haha, yes.
Why do people always want to give it a stamp?
For me it's prog. with minimal influences, some psy sauce over it, finished with some electro / house. ;-)
JUST GOOD FUCKING MUSIC! |

First of all, this is the first physical CD I have bought in a long, long time. After all the hype in the promo section I just couldn`t wait for the digital release. I ripped it onto my computer and threw the plastic away. The CD really is a useless format, if it didnt have that hole in the middle I could at least use it to cut lines on, but I dont wanna waste any precious precious, hehe
Anyways, this album will probably have the dubious honour of being the last CD I have ever bought in my entire life. RIP, you useless shiney piece of plastic, I hated you from the moment I met you and you destroyed my old friend Mr. Vynil...you asshole, may you rot in hell next to the Beta Tape and the Spork.
To the album: I like it, but I don`t love it
Why? I can`t really put my finger on it. It has all the ingredients to become an all-time favorite, but some unquantifiable and inexpressible spark seems to be missing. As usual with the Stranger, the production is top notch. He developed his own signature style that I haven`t heard anywhere else yet. Particularly I like the sounds that he uses, for example the almost 303 sounding leads in some tracks and the nice and driving percussion.
But for some reason I just cant really connect to it. It`s not as deep and entrancing as the Extrawelt Album or the random assortment of techhouse I bought from Beatport lately (or his own Ode ao Sol, for that matter), and if I am in the mood for cheese I have the Liquid Soul album and all the old trance classics I dug up in my vault a few weeks ago. It`s stuck somewhere in the middle.
Like I said, this is a purely subjective opinion and I`m glad most others here seem to enjoy it so much, because objectively i can`t really say anything bad except that some basslines are a little annoying and I would pitch everything down by a few BPM.
BTW, my fav. track is Sweet Water Dolphin (great track!!!), second is Stardust. Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch |
