Just ripped a sweet high pass lead out of Omni...

Sine wave, little bit of hard sync, 100% freq/depth FM (sine), a smidge of wave shaper (osc, 4), some unison, tape slammer/valve radio fx on the rack and a chorus echo on an aux channel. 36db juicy HPF.

Modulate the cutoff frequency with an lfo and adjust range to taste...and for that extra little movement/psy sound modulate the pitch with an envelope (mod2 preset) and make the modulated range very small and just below halfway through the range            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Oh also, for ableton and automation I used to right click, enable host automation, then I would have to go and click the configure button then move the parameter.

You can just enable host automation and then move the thing in Omni and the red automation line will just show up.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

So heres my FM pluck sound
take a saw
set lfo to FM rate
modulate the depth with a Mod envelope (really quick snappy envelope...so only the transient part of the sound is affected)
then apply LFO 1 to AMP,PITCH,CUTOFF and RES
use very small increments and nudge it into shape
then modulate the osc sync with velocity or whatever you want....or dont

hope you like it...

Dude thanks a lot, that patch just gave me a bunch of happy accidents....

Tried a sine wave with a bit of hard sync and shape/symmetry so it looks kind of like a fin wave, im using the warm juicy series filter....

I used a couple different lfos, wanted a ramp lfo for the pitch. I set some to legato, some to free, enabled legato glide and a chorus echo effect unit set to chorus mode with a slow lfo modulating the delay....really fun sound!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

It's not that omnisphere can't do fm, it's just that it can't do it in a very complex way. There is more to fm than 3 waveforms, frequency and depth...I think it would be ridiculously awesome if they made a FM zoom for the next update

I'm always trying to find the best squiggly noises. Little ones, sometimes resonant sometimes not...idk, sound with words is strange. Pitch modulation through envelopes I suspect but mine often sound terrible.

Synthetic water drops and bubbles are always fun, but I never get close            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Oh, figured I'd toss this out there:

All of my Omni presets...the voxworks isnt mine tho. Didn't know that was there until I went looking for the name of the patch that is based on your FM pluck - it's called Lucky Pluck and it's in the FX folder.

They are not tagged, or at least not well. Nor are they intelligently labeled. Yup.           If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
