No drugs = No psytrance?

Why the hell almost everybody who listens to my music thinks im using at least XTC? 
If there werent drugs available:
1) would you still like psytrance music?
2) would there be psytrance genre at all?
3) would there be psytrance parties? (Thanks to Gilad Rafael for getting this question up)
4) is it possible to create killer psy tracks while not being on drugs?
please, be honest.. i know its hard

I believe that without drugs we would have a different psytrance. And I think I would like it.
You need XTC to make music? I guess no. And I don´t need XTC to hear it... So you make the psytrance and I listen to it... Everything drug free... (please, fat basslines...)

I started listening to trance way before i started smoking some puff now and than. and i still like going to parties with a clear head, rather than take something to "enhance" the experience. for example - the infected purim party in the stoa-k. had i Smoked somthing, i would've felt awful - the place was packed and pumping, but with little to no place to breath. being stoned and in that situation would've caused me great discomfort.
so, psytrance or any trance can do rather well with or without drugs. they are NOT part of the music.

People who think X has got anything to do with psychedelic trance are just plain stupid. If you want music for that stuff, go listen to Nick Warren, he's much better for that crap.

I agree with Jason (LyTe).
Sometimes some molecules can make your party pretty worse...
More on the subject: lots of people listen to psy at home mostly without taking drugs (even drug users). So psytrance needs only listeners to keep kicking...

i dont know... its kindda stupid topic (sorry)
but without drugs our whole world whould be different.
all the music styles, movies, parties, ppl...
maybe if the world was free from drugs we wholdnt even have this thing called "psytrance". (also pink floyd, doors, the who ect et, damn... even Jazz)
so y wondering about things that we dont even have a clue about it.
and like kaz said, XTC is the most non psy drug used in parties.

Kaz u couldn't state it better about the pills.. Pills make ppl as uphoric as they can be and as dumb as they can be in the same time, it is the biggest lie that ever was invented ( that is why ppl like xtc so much )
Interesting, how nobody referred to Acid ( LSD ) - and afaic, there would be no trance if there was no LSD - eventho that ppl use it much less today ----> u can hear it in the music nowadays.. much less explorations and irregular things happening in the music.. much more standard patterns that appeal to ppl that munch pills and want their high end to be earned in the easiest way possible

I agree with Yuli, i think without acid there would be no psytrance.
But about XTC, i think that as with music, it's just a matter of taste. You can't say X is a bad drug (all drugs are bad and do harm your body) and LSD is a good drug. It depends on your taste.
If many people i know (including myself) would have taken as many acid as pills in parties, they would be out of this world by now (at least psychologically).
Too much X ruins your body and your mind, but too much LSD does the same or even worse.
But i agree with one thing: XTC it's the biggest lie ever invented.
BTW, it was X that introduced me to the world of trance. If there was no X, i would probably wouldn't like trance. I've stopped taking them for about a year now, but it were those damn pills that made me understand trance. |

real trance has nothing to do with drugs
its the same road but its the different direction.
drugs are just some easy one-way-ticket for some hours to have a little taste of trance-conciousness.
there is a difference between taking drugs on a party to mind open and relax yourself and prepare u for some trancy feeling u will get after some steps on floor.. or taking drugs, waiting for the BOOM and yeah lets make some party until our blood has cleaned out the toxic and we gonna take take some new stuff.

I don't use XTC... xtc adds nothing into my life.... and still then i like psytrance, it's my life, drugs has simply NOTHING to do with the music.... Music is Art....

i agree with you guys about the x but come psy-trance comes from evolved roots psychedelic rock without psychedelics there would be no trance for sure and i think most people take x because you cant get your hands on REAL lsd ,by the way chi who told you lsd ruins your brain thats pure propaganda anyway just my opinion lsd is merely a vessel to another state within yourself no matter what people say if you can reach a similar state without drugs is great but its definitly not the same if your trippin peace seth |

sorry man i just don't buy that.
you can say and think what you want, you may call it opening your brain, but too much (i said too much, not occasionally) lsd will definitely fry your brain. an abuse of lsd is worse in than an abuse of xtc and i have living people who can confirm that (unfortunately) |
