I was seriously considering it as well...but decided to get the Moog Phatty and MoogerFoogers first. I am selling my Roland MC-909 to save up for a Maschine.

Interested to hear people's opinion's on it as well.

pom and dh, what are you hoping this to be in your setup. live tweaking controller?
hands on inspiring device for complex drum patterns to "play like an instrument" for your studio?

All I have seen is some demos.
What interested me is the pads, the little internal sequencer in NI, some of the effects that can be applied and tweaked in real time.
I have synths and what not to do the synth stuff and I do lots of percussions with my synths, but I am looking for some kind of groovebox that will take more of my drum editing, away from the screen of the computer and inspire me to write music in a different way.
And obviously all that can be taken out for a live gig, which is always a +.

Peace out.

the pads and using less my mouse... i worked with a mpc in the past, and making beats with the pads is lot of fun (more for break stuff but still great for percs ,hats snare.. in psy) it lead to result i dont necessary get with a mouse..especailly for a more musical natural sound as you inject the own groove that would be hard to duplicat with a mouse placing in the grid ,velocity .. too much hassle compared to playing on the pads and use the best take.

you can also open ni stuff into it and maybe all vsti? reaktor

still have to check all the features it s a bit unclear..

It is the sequencing and the slicing (and the real time effects for live sets) that are making the Maschine so attractive to me, both for studio and especially, live use.
Its like having a hardware version of the good ol' Recycle and assigning samples to pads to jam on top of the music.

Brilliant and inspiring stuff!

Peace out.

so, what do you guys think of dsi tempest?

been reading a lot about it lately on the net and had to go to a music store today to test it...
it's a monumental drum machine!
more like a sequencer, drum machine and synth! it was a bit confusing first but after fiddling with it for about one hour i already started to get a hang of the basic stuff.
what bothers me a bit is that they say it's a analog drum machine but it's _sample based_ and has 2 analog and 2 digital oscs (which you can use simultaneously on each of the 6 sounds!). but the digital oscs have all the what i call "percussion starter samples" :/

anyone had the chance to compare maschine and tempest? pros and cons of both?

Tempest does look fun to play with, although the sounds it produces are kind of plastic to my ears. Will be nice to hear what it sounds like in a full production and with other synth.

Think the machine and tempest are pretty much two different instruments, I see the maschine as more of a sampler/daw controller and the tempest as a drum machine synth. For the price of the tempest you could get the maschine and elektrons machinedrum and still have money left over.
