People forget that it takes as much effort make a good melody as it does to layer effects and basslines.

A good melody is a good melody no matter what. But you dont need to sacrifice psychedelia to achieve that. eg.. doof, GNOR, Filteria, Neuron Compost. A good melody without the added effect of composition could be pretty boring as we know.

What I was talking about was tracks like 'Rinkadink - Native American Beauty' or 'Astrix vs Delirious - Tel Aviv'.

U mentioned Tel Aviv to me outside the Purdue undergrad library. Recollections?
What would u say about Bizarre Contact? Electro Sun?           ~*** You can tell By the way i use my walk, Im a woman's man, No time to Talk***~

Hahahahah. Thats where I'm sitting right now!
I still love that track. Both of them!
Electro Sun falls into the same category.

Bizarre Contact. Well somewhat the same but I like what they do with samples and leads. Its not so much the uplifting sound as it is the whacky twisted morning sounds. Fewer buildups than Astrix and Electrosun. More on the lines of Rinkadink.

Well I was just thinking kind of that the other day...
I can hardlly ever find good morning tracks... the best track I found this year for the genere was Silicon Sounds rmx of RPNGC.... its beatifull and not fluffy... just good plain ol'mornig... nice sinths... good layering.... clean track.... I only wish there were more tracks made in that fashion...

Well that my 2 cents...           "open your mind....you might just see that there isn't anything to be seen"

Well the fluffy lala terms are pretty vague, so, some examples of what you're talking about?
Although I think I could name a few in relation to what you're describing, gimmie some names here.

imo this would be like the difference between Ananda Shake/Ion and Astrix/(maybe)Bamboo Forest

@ qane

Asterix for me is not very psychedelic.... something about the feel his tracks give you when you hear them... even though certain synths might actually be acidic / lazer / unique / tweaked etc... somehow the overall tone of his tracks to me is not very psychedelic....

bamboo forest on the other hand, specially their older stuff, always had a more psychedelic sounding space in them... . bamboo forest music is not as high energy as asterix but has more mystical qualities. (though i have also heard a few bamboo forest tracks that are quite commercial & fluffy... there are a couple of bamboo forest tracks with vocal samples all the way through)

often its not just what sounds that are used but the over all mix and EQing of everything in the track that brings out a psychedelic space or not...

Anananda Shake & Ion are examples of artists that... i would say, are yes, more psychedelic than asterix, and bamboo forest,
Ananda & Ion music (though both quite differnet) have a slightly twisted approach to their psychedelic space... also notice with them that one track might sound very different from another track they make, where as artists like Asterix have a very similar sound to most of their music...

our reference to 'la la la la' music is talking about happy synths that are just layed over tracks with hardly any FX, tweaking, distortions, variations in tune, and hardly any other synths interacting with the tune....          www.facebook.com/DjJanux

now i have read and like everyone for saying what i have been thinking about..
i'll talk here with an example here, see this list..
1. Astrix - Sex Style
2. Beckers - Switch (Growling Machines Remix)
3. Analog Pussy - Sound Of Soul (Gataka Vs Indra Remix)
4. Wrecked Machines - Born Slippy Remix - Trancepoting
5. Wrecked Machines - Music In You (Gms Rmx)
6. Vibe Tribe - Wise Cracks
7. Perplex vs Gataka - Down to Earth (part 2)
8. Cyrus the Virus - Sound Track of Your Life (Shanti rmx)
9. Growling Machines - My House (Let There Be House)
10. Dali - 01-Dali - Colors Band (Astrix Remix)
11. Oforia - Substance
12. XSI - Overzone
13. Eskimo - Wake Walking Dream
this has all the big artists of this time who have made very good music but what i have here is just names and some times in this mix i think it has very very good psychedelic feel to it but at most times its just feel well fluff, and not psychedelic morning music, i feel these days there are some very good artists in house which give me what i need though its not related but its music right? so if music is just music and there has to inspiration behind making music i think somewhere and for the artists mentioned above, the inspiration is money, not harmony and love for each, nature and god within each of us.. which according to me is very important.
IMHO.

Most of the tracks you mention (I havent heard them all, thank heaven's) are like the cheesiest, mindless, lalalala crap belonging to this genre.           "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"

I have my own opinions about the artists I mentioned, and can relate to yours..but from what you're saying I'm thinking of happy hardcore music..which I know isn't at all what we're discussing..

I honestly haven't heard much "fluffy lalala" in music recently (other than new prog va's), so I can't really relate to this completely with morning music..

@ quane.

well then it seems that what i consider fluffy music, you dont, which means you like fluffy music.

people who like music will rarely call it fluffy, fluffy is usually a term used with a slight negative connotation) ....i think.

its just a matter of taste.

an example of what i would call fluffy : the new Sesto Sento album.. 'come together' most of it i would call quite fluffy.

I'll start...

Protoculture.... was a huuuuge fan when i first heard proto sounds... still live the production quality n the melodies are always ripe with emotion... only criticism is i think he isn't experimenting enough.

Broken Toy.... Always held SA music in high regard. Love the unique beats n refreshing approach to psy trance. Again very deep and inspiring emotional content imo

Silicon Sound..... wowowow french groove at its best (Altom comes in a close second for me) not the most emotional of music but a high dose of groove and evocative melodies never fail to impress me

Prometheus.... delightfully constructed music. Strikes a hiden chord within and doesn't let go. Need some new sounds... snakes n ladders still amazes me

Black & White.... their basslines was the first thing that impressed me, but after hearing more n more of their productions my admiration has grown. 24/7 is such a great track... and i still get charged up when i hear 'this is what u need what u need need need !!!!'
i like almost all their tracks

Son Kite..... Colors.... a strong contender for my personal favourite album... ever. I love the quality of SK music... so consistant in feeling and tone. Musically speaking, very very good music

thats what i think... i know its not the newest music, but i think it will be helpful in our understanding where everyone is coming from when they use say things like fluffy n lalala music.

Personally i don't think any of the above is lalala or fluffy (Silicon Sound maybe a wee bit fluffy at times) but is high quality day time music

well...........

son kite........
i would not call fluffy....

not their earlier music anyway.....

especially their music from (1999-2003)

maybe the 'Colours' album could be seen as that......

However The 'minilogue' album is one of my first true 'hypnotic' loves.....an absolute Classic of classics for me.. and this is definitely not 'fluff'.........

no comment on the other artists......            "On the path of spirituality, one ventures to vanquish one’s own faults rather than to judge others"
