we tried our best but soon in about 9 month from now
the label will shut down, nice working with artists and djs had fun see u all

If the label is your love child and you desperately wanna keep it going, why don't you think about having an on-line/digital only label that would drastically cut costs and middle men that you don't trust?
There are ways out of the deadlock you seem to be into.

I'm sorry to be the black sheep during this cryfest about one label closing down, I'm sorry for your loss but you should probably not blame the market economics for your plight as quality is something a label should think about as well.

After looking at your discography on discogs it seems that you released unknown artists of all genres confused.

As a avid buyer/collector/afficionado I personally like labels to try to bring something that isn't already on the table, and I couldn't see what Moonsun records brought to our vast underground feast except more of the same, all genres combined nonetheless.

If you ever decide to resurrect Moonsun or start over, as well as changing your business model you should try to focus your label on a unique direction if possible and not just a trampoline for your producer friends or other artists you feel deserve to be heard.

An example: Iboga records. Although they've changed over the years, I believe they evolved in one direction and brought something fresh to the scene. Same with Digital Structures. Same with Hommega and despite that I don't like what they release, I respect their commitment to israeli cheese and business sense (marketing, hype etc).

Of course what I said isn't a guarantee to success but I think it's all too easy to blame the file sharers and the distributions and your target demographic then simply step back and say "Hey, what am I doing that is so special?"

So sorry about your project man but i am sure you will find a better thing to do, i am sure the future holds lots of good things too! We also are kind of something like this we are not so good in promoting our music plus our music is so different than what's coming our today that it's very difficult to release even though the quality and feeling is unique. We also are trying to start playing in different countries and even this is difficult again even though we have such a unique style...So i guess that today it's not the music but the bullshit that makes your way up the stairs of dreams!

I wish you really good luck in everything you decide to do, and whatever happens man just keep working from the hearth!           Boom :)

Like Neuromantik very wisely said you cant expect to sell good and keep a label running by releasing different style of music on every release and by signing unknown artists.

I checked out the discography and not only 90% of the artists involved are unknown but also each release is almost different style ranging from psy trance and full on to dark trance and chill out.

A label must built a profile and a good artist roster if it expects to succeed anything.

Iboga and Digital Structures are known for their awesome progressive releases,Alchemy Records and Neurobiotic are into the full on style,Spun is promoting GMS and their friends and so on.

When these labels want to release something different they establish a sublabel in order to do so.

For example Neurobiotic founded Indica Music for its ambient and chill out releases same with Spun that formed Nice Dreams Music.

You just cant release every style under the same roof especially when you got no serious artists roster.

P.S According to your original post wasnt the label supposed to be already closed?I mean you said 5 months more and now you say 9 more months? Not that i care but its better to announce something when its certain to happen.          Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Well you can release different styles if you are like Dejavu Records, but not everyone can be Dejavu Records and Moonsun are certainly not... anyways goodluck for your future releases hope things workout

i dont think many people care about these label u say any more spun will do electr soon also i know tip is doing techno or something so i think all with change by time and also in psy more people buy dark cds today u can see sales on what big dark labels make also japan and other love dark music any way if u think dna or kinzaza are small artists or nexus or insomia so sorry man mabe ther enot gms but they make todays msuic and there good names i didnt like to relase other names i dont like there music any more most of the big names make same and same
copact for instence is a label that i can say best full on music today, the other just old fame folowing them
and what in 10 years they stop like most thel have to much money and sit in ibiza and make fun of promoters that payed them 8000 to play heeheh
so music is not the name is the taste my friends
and to respect the artists u buy from and that u like what u complie my label is shuting down cose im changing sceene has nothing to do with trance stories just dont want to be in it any more to many years and in my country i dont see improment like brazil or japan so what is the piont buying planc etickets to go there each week so i prefer to play techno and club music and lie in summer in ibiza by ethe beach and spin there ......any way im sorry for my artists and djs but there good and thel make it.......

Your new love is techno and club music?
It's a little bit weird...
This is a U-turn i think...
Or even a betrayal...
Anyway i think it's time for the MoonSun to become SeaSun...

Good luck...
See you in ibiza...
