One sawtooth VCO, phase sync.

Have it in a mix so it can make some sense.

Very different sound to my Slim Phatty altogether.

Enough with the teasing!
I already got the Phatty because you got me jealous, but we're not going to start this all over again

Although it sounds very nice

Btw, are the other sounds all Phatty?
If so, I'd like to know how you made that sound at 1.25.

there is something a little weird in the bassline, in the attack/decay stage dunno what it is? maybe it s tweakable or maybe make it with the phase triger and the remove it and sample the best notes?
the vco sound like it s great for bass.

love the synths sounds used !

Yes, its the Slim Phatty. VCO Sync, ADSR modulating master VCO pitch, resonance up, S&H LFO on the VCF, tight attack/decay, little sustain, medium release.

I dont hear anything strange in the attack/decay, every note is spot on. The patch is somewhat clicky cause I like that kind of bass. But its sounding huge in the studio and clean as f@ck!

Although I could turn up the bassline channel a dB.

How is the LFO set to S&H when it's already set to modulating the master PITCH thru the ADSR?

Its not, I had a look at the patch, ramp down LFO slightly modulating master VCO pitch, velocity to VCF frequency, loads of resonance.

Here's a mix with the bassline up a couple of dB.

i agree with pom. the initial part of each bass note sound smashed / weird in the midrange on headphones at least..

Hmm, there is no compression, especially on the transients as I always let them through the compressor with a slow attack.

Anyhow that is the first of many basslines to come from the Minitaur. Will post more examples.

So...First impressions: Brilliant sound, very limited sound palette, bummer for only tri LFO, no PWM, lightning fast ADSRs, great sounding VCF although only 4pole as far as I saw on the editor, I can run it from my x0xb0x, VCO phase sync is a godsend, minute tweaks on the VCF, ADSR, create quite different sounding basslines.

Could be the fact that I had the attack of the amp ADSR, at 0. But I wanted this click in the bass, I love clicky basslines generally.
There are no phase adjustments in the editor other than Sync On/Off.
Bare in mind that on that clip I have the bassline running in real time through out the track, no choping of best notes...etc to show how stable the VCO retrigger is.

Listen and decide for your self.

Virus C bassline.

VST bassline (Massive)

Moog Slim Phatty bassline

Moog Minitaur bassline

The advantage is yours to decide which one you like most.

i clearly like more the texture of the analog ones..no surprise here ,i find digital saw most of the times lack the liquid clean natural quality of analog ones and dont have that full sound from the deep low to the highs

Yeah same here. Having said that, the soft synth and especially clinical clean bass sounds I get from the Virus, can be put to good use in tracks.

Its all about the mood and what kind of sound you are going for in tunes.

But having said that, there will be a spray of Martian Arts tracks with the Minitaur doing the bass

P.S. I forgot to add Trillian:

So there you have it, two analog bassslines, one digital hardware, one software digital and one ROMpler bassline.

In my opinion its not about just choosing "the best" one for all tunes, but finding which one fits the track you are making.

Although with the Phatty on the lower notes, the bass loses its bite and sounds rather muddy.

Look around 110-125Hz on the phatty and gently dip that range to see how you like it. The Phatty is my "harder to fit in a mix" synth as it sounds so big in the lows. I find that reducing that range (depending on the note) gets rid of lots of mud.

Also when I made that bassline for that Dementia track I posted, I had the waveform not at saw 100% but slightly tilted towards the tri waveform. Continuously variable waveforms have their pros and cons.
