i dont know but in nectarios example it s my fav but the Minitaur sound like it could be even better , just find something strange in the attack, it s maybe cause of the fast attak setting like nectarios mentioned but wihtout that i think it s probably be a beast at psy bass

That bassline note the Phatty is playing at, is an F#. Not very low, but not high either.

True about the Minitaur, I got so many brilliant sounding basslines before I decided to record the 0 attack clicky one that I personally liked. Slightly deviation from the fastest attack settings, gets rid of the click.
Brilliant having infinite values for programming the VCF, ADSR and amount.

Eager to use more in tracks now.

Look around 110-125Hz on the phatty and gently dip that range to see how you like it. The Phatty is my "harder to fit in a mix" synth as it sounds so big in the lows. I find that reducing that range (depending on the note) gets rid of lots of mud.

Also when I made that bassline for that Dementia track I posted, I had the waveform not at saw 100% but slightly tilted towards the tri waveform. Continuously variable waveforms have their pros and cons.

I found the problem.
Due to my Adam A7's not going deep enough only 46hz, the lowest TOOTH of the SAW isn't audible in my room

At C1 the dominant/loudest peak is at about 63 hz, and the second peak is at 130hz.
Now when I go down to C2, the lowest peak which is at 32hz has completely dissapeared and the sound becomes audible only after the second peak at 63hz.
But this peak is not as loud as the dominant one at 1 octave higher, thus leading to a less full sounding bass.

My description as to sounding muddy on lower notes wasn't quite right.
Sure you're gonna cut the deepest part of the bass in production, but I was just wondering why all of a sudden the bass dropped when going down on the keyboard

C1 is 32.7Hz. C2 is 65.4Hz but I know what you mean. C1 is quite a low note to reproduce bass on smaller speakers, hence why I usually make the bass pattern with some high notes on tunes where C1 is my root note. So that there is a low "grind" at the C1 notes and some clean higher bass notes to get some sort of groove in the bottom end.

For example, this track is at C1.

And the lowest note I have a track as is B0 where I had to layer an oscillator an 8ve higher to get some bass heard on smaller monitors.

After more days of messing around, the Minitaur is capable of better results from the one I posted. So far what I can say for sure is that the Minitaur it phatter, yet the Phatty is punchier and to my ears has more character than the Minitaur. Also, Minitaur is great for classic analog lead lines.

The Minitaur sounds nothing like the Evolver. Its loads phatter but also very limited compared to it in terms of sound palette.

Why did you sell the Phatty? I am asking this to understand what it is you are looking in synths and you did not find in the Phatty.

I sold the Phatty cause I felt I can do about he same with Virus and I really wasn't impressed with its tight basses. Also, I thought its envelopes are not that fast!!

Minitaur promisses a bass machine, but most of demos don't show that..

With Virus I got prety fat bass, but only after a number of years, I neded experience and using all its resources.
Anyway, Evolver too, I got fat bass, but still.. I know that analog is analog... just don't want o get it and then regret as it is not that cheap and here canot be returned..

The Phatty's envelopes are lightning fast mate.
The Minitaur's bottom end is bigger than the Phatty's, especially for psy-trance single saw basslines.
The pro's of VCO phase re-triger is that you don't have to sample it and you can add the 2nd VCO that is also phase re-triggered and can create some nice new basslines with added square/saw wave either using the beat parameter, or tune it an 8ve higher/lower.

Having said that, the actual sound is better when VCO phase re-trigger is turned off....the re-trigger kinda smudges the transient...so I think I am going to end sampling the Minitaur the same way I have been doing with the Phatty.

If you are happy with the Virus, keep that and don't spend any cash on analog synths until you understand how to work with them.
