I'm a portuguese living in London for 4 years and after so so so so so so so so many years Goa Gil still goes to portugal to play. Aren't you all tired of listening him???? Every f****** year he plays in portugal, and always for Good Mood.... |

no i am not tired.and it wasn´t for goodmood, it was 4 omium (diogo´s new org). goodmood only makes boom nowadays.
and i must tell u that everytime he comes 2 Portugal i will see him..u can bet that!
i´m with u ArSoX  
ps: Some orgs also bring same artists more than once, in 1 year here in Portugal...

once a year is not that much etnarama , there are artists that come for 3 times or more in a year!!
I guess this party with goa gil has becamed a ritual so every year the party must append

beacause people seem to like bad DJ's, with arrogant "behind desk" attitude, and apawling mixes, and still... go out there and spend their hard earned money, for this ...
i went once and it was hilarious, back in 1999.

artists you say? hum...
yeah but goagil is not one for sure...
I dont mind watching a GOOD DJ for 5 or 6 times a year.
But a bad DJ doesnt deserve my respect or money, even if he has GOA in his middle name.
That's how i think justice works.

yes spasm but he isn´t only dj..he also produces music..and if u can point me another dj that does the same has he does..20 hours in a row..almost every single party..and he is like kinda of a guru of the place (if u belive that there is more than music), but of course like the majority of people only see thix as music, nothing can b expected more.

I agree with u Spasm when u say he is a bad Dj!!! i think he knows how to mix but he doesnt give a shit when he is mixing probably because he mixes so many hours that if he has to be concentrated all the time he couldn´t take it for that long.
I went just one time to see him and it was enough for me heheheheh.....
I was just justifying to etnarama why goa gil still keep comming year after year.

With all due respect, and nothing personal to you a3k, this kind of "dinamic, charismatic, collective, specifically, effervescent", kind of language for me is pure bull#$%.
Colourfull adjectives without any meaning or objective, but good for youngster to get curious on the amount of carefully chosen words...

yes i understand u see it like thix..that is why told u it is only music for some, and 4 others is not..
and i think u must have read that document u just read, was infact a universe thesis, that had only 2 b appreciated by university teachers..maybe young teachers
don´t worry i understand your point of view, but i hope that u understand mine!
i really like goa gil, and his parties..wether he mixex well or not..2 me his parties are magic..i really enjoy his parties.
i think 4 what he does, and how he does it deserve some respect.

This is my solely opinion, so please dont tell me off. i saw him at least twice... and came on!!! in Tugolandia when he plays, he's seen as a superior being... (shanti Shanti), but in the end of the day in Portugal you go to parties for the music or drugs..... i repeat this is just my opinion |

I go and see Goa Gil ritual since 2001 in Portugal, for me it's always one of the best parties and i don't miss it for nothing.
I like hi-tek djs and super mixes too, but this man takes me higher than almost everybody else. why?
1. his sound is truly psychedelic, inspires me and takes me high.. i even like it's repetition, keeps me renewing my dance and spirit, it's like a sacred journey where you receive the prize only in the end
2. you can say it's bullshit, but for me he mixes emotions and spiritual vibe, and that's what i feel dancing to him.. in 2002, from 1h to 3h, he mixed 3 decks and the beats were clashing in offtempo madness all the time... when i was almost ripping off my head, he gets to this perfect mixing and sequence from 2h to 7h, which burst all the anxiety of the trancers to total madness euforia... and in the end i took home a wonderful feeling in my soul
3. I see him as a humble simple nice man, with a sense of energies far above the standard level it's again my personal honest opinion from watching him live through this years..
4. I can finally dance to dark psy in the morning and afternoon! yes! no more prog-after-dark-night, which for me doesn't work (i love prog too, but before the psy madness )
that's my view, no confrontation in it, i understand almost all points of view shown here
just sharing with you fellow portuguese trancers!
p.s: hope to find you gil fans in real life
