I wrote this in the north america forum after seeing / hearing Gil play in Asheville, N. Carolina this year.

The music was simply AMAZING! Gil ripped out one of the darkest most powerful sets I have heard. I was listening from when he started (10 pm i think) till about 12 in the afternoon. My legs couldnt take it after that and I had to get at least 2 hrs sleep before I began the roadtrip back to bloomington. From midnight till 6 am Gil just went mad. Amazing track selection - every track taking you on a different tangent - FLAWLESS mixing. I hate people who judge Gil - but i have to say that he is a GENIUS on the mix. His mixing style is different from other Djs (as is his music) and is PHENOMENAL. I loved the way he twisted the basslines together and was able to do this for hours and hours and hours. Kudos baba Gil. I loved the music.

gils parties are an experience alltogether. so open your mind and try to enjoy a 20 hour psychedelic adventure -- im sure ur opinions will change!

ok hate was a little over the top - but it was not aimed at you or any1 else but it was an expression of my support for gil. dont want any animosity - my goal here was maybe give u a different perspective - its obvious that you dont want one and would prefer to single out word and diction issues.

either you saw some one who was not goagil or you have no clue of what a good mix is , because goagil does not have that type of skill and he can not beat mix cause he mixs from DAT , so you could not of heard "flawless mixing", i just disagree with you on this point of your post |

i think thats something that many countries would like to have. 4 me goa gil partys haves a difrent vibe, at least the ones i went, althoug since a couple years ago there are too many "gunas" in the party at least since goa gil stoped playing on the floor level( i think first time in 2004), but still is a gr8 oportunity to listen some uniq psychedelik stuff by goa gil, an AMAZING set or performance by Ariane and also good mood uses to bring some Good stuff to the chill out. Anyway, going to a goagil party in the Full Moon is a ritual not quite like going 2 a comercial trance party just 4 dance.
Thats my opinion

yes i know gil plays with DATs... but are you saying that you cannot beat match without CD decks? I totally disagree... before i had decks i would beat match using regular cd players and if you know your music well and have the ear it is VERY possible. Gil does just that - he does not have to lift up a party in 2/3 hrs like regular DJs. he has 15-16 hrs to take a party from a wicked 144 bassline to 152 acid morning like you'll never imagine. Therefore he can keep the same bpm for a while + beatmatching is not the only way to transition tracks.
i also dont expect any human being to mix flawlessly for that period of time. he does loose himself now and then but makes up for it by unleashing another furios track. his stash bag is FULL of music you probably will never hear again! from old to new to the practically unknown. All the persons that talk in a bad way. fouls because you dont now wat you are saying. for me goa gil is the best dark at night, dark in the morning, and dark in the afternoon so my tummy became fullfill till next year all the best to my friend Sox i love your words.

well, i do not consider Goa Gil a good DJ, but i always liked the sound he produced..i went to see him in 2001, and again this year. I can understand what makes people dislike him, but that 2001 party was simply awesome, there was an incredible vibe, everybody smiling, including him, all the time!i don't go and see Goa Gil for the mixes, i go for him..he's been in the trance scene forever, and i have the most respect for a man who stands there for more than 20 hours, smiling and cheering, and still comes out from his stage to distribute cds and give autographs, i'd be dead after 20 hours standing there, with the headphones on my ears, it's too damn much!!!
I went this year again, i can't say i had fun, bcuz i didn't..he just screwed it up big time this year, dark full on sound, way too agressive for my likings, and the party became "dark" bcuz of it. the place was crappy (no water to bathe [it's really upsetting in a hot hot day like that] and too much dust), and there were too many uninteresting people there, making it look like a techno party..but that's not Goa Gil's fault, it's omium's..who i think made that party with a total lack of comfort for those who went there. that is happening more and more..crappy party promoters who just wanna have a party, gather some money and go off scene, not concerning about anything but themselves. it's getting annoying, it makes me think twice before going to a party from a young promoter. where's goodmood and quest 4 goa, and plur?? where are the nicely organized parties with all the good things ??? are we decaying as party organizers or are just there too many people trying to organize a party?? take a look at up down festival..that's the most flagrant example nowadays...we're getting ripped off

first: He is not, MASTER, as far as i know!
Otherwise, please tell the university, and course.
second: He doesn't sell music or DJ technic. He sells his image, and a very good marketing plan.
third: Its funny to see ex-boom team, so on "trance religious" type, to organize a year party with such comercial artist.
I went to the his first party in Portugal, and was great, not because of him, but because the guys who organize it, are the bests (ex-boom team). The cool thing was the party, not him!
Anyway, for some kids its allways a good picture: The grandfather on drugs! lol (don't take this sentence so serious, lol)

my opinion on goa gil (not that anyone cares but i'm bored): the music is fine, i like the music even if it gets boring at some point, but all the shit around him, like the "ritual" and "cosmic experience" and the "master" and all that stuff is pure bullshit... that ruins goa gil image for me
