Hello, i've seen several artist that manage to play their DJ sets or live acts under the influence of LSD or other psychedelic drugs. To be honest i havent done that YET. But some people definetly do it and they dont loose their skills or concentration for mixing or playing. It must be a really powerfull trip that can make u have a mystical experience or otherwise it can be your worst nightmare. I just wanna know if somebody here have done something similar and how was the trip, did u manage to do u work as good as always or was it even better??

This would be very interesting to know.

My 2 cents:

Unless you are playing ONLY for youself, I think it's a very unprofessional thing to play under the influence... I've seen some big names playing completely fucked up on drugs. Some did well, some didn't.

I'm a bystander, I am not a DJ, but as a person who over the years acquired a certain taste and a bit of knowledge, I can say that I prefer DJs who play when their mind is clear.

Being a DJ on drugs is like being a teacher or a programmer on drugs. You came to do a job, you came to do your work. You'll do it best if you're not on drugs.

Playing for an audience requires a lot of communication between the crowd and the DJ. I saw too many times that the DJ was too fucked up to notice that the audience is not enjoying his set. Too many times the dance floor got empty but still the DJ was having a great time.

Playing on a DJ stand requires skill and accuracy (if you want to be a good DJ, that is). I've seen to many times that the DJ fucked up his mixing because he was too fucked up to play.

Maybe a DJ gets a great kick to play on drugs, but he is not doing his job properly IMHO.

If he is delivering a better dj set or live under the influence then yeah the keyword here is 'Pareto efficient'           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

ofcourse i dont care about what the DJ does with his life and how much drugs he does ,or when he does them...as long as he can be as good as possible when playing....from MY OWN experience "sachi" which is slang for "clear" is the best....
maybe for others its not...though i doubt AcId helps u understand the crowd better.
cheers.

yeah L while spinning is a BAD IDEA... I know this, thankfully from a tiny party with my friends. I didn't fuck up but it sure was hard to try giving direction to my story when I can barely figure out where the hell I was!!

Spliffs, I ALWAYS do this, when I am DJing and when I am not. I love it! And Mdma can be great at times, really gets your energy level high which in turn raises the crowds' energy level.

I don't rely on any of this, and DJing itself is a powerful drug that gets me really high, but it can also be fun when the time is right. After all this is psychedlic music, as long as the DJ can do his/her job then there is no reason anyone should tell a DJ what they should/should not do.

my two bits.

if you can do it with or without drugs i don't see any problem for ME. if you like of some drug and you feel able to play well, the problem and your mind is yours, do what you think it's right.           Obiit - Industrial Ambient

yes ofcourse its on individuals

some dj's maybe lost and playing for themselves not bothering about the crowd - while some under the influence may well connect to the crowd to the level and give all a banger time.

so the individual dj has to decide wats best for him/her.           ------------------------------------

i think it's really difficult to concentrate properly on the BPMs and mixer if you're tripping hard on LSD.

i've seen Djs play the same track again while under the influence i.e forgetting that they just played it a few tracks earlier.....etc.

so IMHO, LSD and playing is not a good idea....maybe ok if you're at the end of your trip and are slightly tripping.

well, that's it, if you are deep in trip no fuckin way you can handle the equipment properly ! normal(?!) ppl can bearly handle their minds on acid and mind as you know controls it all .. djs that are able not only to handle the set without fuckups but also to create something special - are phenomenas imho ! even smoked it is hard to function, but on acid - it must be a bad one           Dance is my Trance

well i suppose i can only answer from the audience perspective as i have only ever appreciated music from the dancefloor...i dont dj but i have seen dj's so f*ct that they totally lose sight of the audience's enjoyment. its mighty SELFISH if u think about it, they are enjoying themselves beyond tripping content, without any regard for the people on the dancefloor : who cares if they arent, the dj is cos he's off his face... my 2 cents, i have not as of yet seen a set where a fuct dj does a good job...they're too enveloped in their state than to notice whats going on...           ****andmysoulsbeenpsychedelicized****
