Nick, first of all I didn't say astrix is crap ! Or any other specific artist/dj or genre. If he/she has followers and has made a name, then for sure he has something to say. As I said in my previous post, I realise that people have different taste. Ofcourse they do, music is so wide in sounds, that there is something for everyone to like.
What I said was, in my effort to describe what I mean by crap music, that dj's who don't respect what they do play crap music in the end. Whatever they may play, astrix or antix, rastaliens or penta...or kalomoira
As for that somenone learns each time he plays, agreed. But he doesn't have to learn on my night out, or he shouldn't get payed !!! LOL....
Experimentation is done by a dj when he's alone, again agreed, but experimentation leads to skill, that should somehow get out, and leave the bedroom. Atleast if he wants to go pro.
Don't you see, going pro is all what it is about. The topic began in the first place, to cover the reasons of local dj's not getting paid. The straight answer is this : If you're willing to get payed each time you play, you need to be on a level of professionalism. If you're willing to have mindless fun, and just spin your playlists for your pleasure, and that of your friends, than most probably you wont get payed.
The level of being pro, is not only about your music and skills. It also depends on your communication skills, and personal charisma. You may be the best skilled psy-trance deck wizard on the planet, but if you cannot make a deal, this will stay forever with you ending up being unpaid. Next time you get a call, and you're feeling like it, sort out the money thing first, if that's what bothers you. If you can't be sure, coz of the promoter or organizer, than just say you're sorry, but you don't play for free. Simple as that. If you like to play for free, for your own reasons, then explain again, and make them know you're doing them a favor.
Personally, I just say these things for the people who are bothered by not getting paid. My own belief, is that occasional dj'ing shouldn't be made on the basis of money, and mostly should be done at free parties, where the party just needs to make its expenses. Mainly for artistic reasons, or just plain fun. If you're involved with big parties, which make money, and you're part of it, then for sure go for it. Even more if they ask you to bring people in it. But just make sure who you're dealing with, and do yourself some justice by first covering your personal needs.
And, I hate being misunderstood all the time. I have played several times for free, for small/medium sized psy parties, I have made some of my own, with free entrances all the time, and I'm until now releasing my own music for free on the internet. It's anything but the money for me until now, and I never bothered coz music is fun for me, and not money. I'm just saying, if you like to see euros out of this, you got to change your attitude.

LOL...If the "downloaded tracklist" is from Torrent, is it ok then ? Get real, almost everyone is downloading music, esp. "greek local dj's"...

yes but djs and artists are diffrent prices
and when u ask 200 euros as resident dj is ok
but as artists is not and no 1 has put if they play live for
this or dj set this why im cofused
