Since the subject i opened seemed to get out of hand and more private beetween me and zoi and since the moderators only seem to care of subjects like what is the most psychedelic color or what is the most psychedelic shit paper i will now re-open the subject and try to keep it (from my side at least) calm,constructive and on point...
to the moderator that locked the subject:
Kiki you think this is somethning not importand in order to keep it under discution?....you just started to appear in parties as a djane and you will eat the same shit that we do....its just a matter of time....or maybe you got a few phonecalls from the pussy promoters that dont have the courage to come out here and support and explain their behaviour?....at least zoi has a pussy 100%....And some balls that others lack i might add.....
to zoi....besides our differences and arguments in the previous topic that has been locked i believe i have to appologise to you and the people not for what i said but maybe for the way i said those things...but i think people can understand that you where not the target from the begginning but that things got more personall on the way and we both lost it somewhere in the middle on issues that should b discussed maybe better inbeetween us and not in the forum...but allow me to say ,that from the beggining it was not the money that troubled me most, but the attitude of all(if you believe that you should b excluded then do so)promoters when it comes to payments...(you know me too good to believe that i did all this to get the extra 50 euros from you or from any other promoter)...so to end the previous chapter i appologise once again to you and the people in this forum for my angry and persistand posts but i think the reasons are now more clear.....
so in general terms i think we can both agree zoi (and all of the other promoters that prefer to keep their mouths shut)that:
1) there is an issue that djs dont get as much as they should (wich is something that its not in the promoters hands 100% due to many expences)but for sure they should take it under consideration...
2)that most promoters try to do anything not to pay he lockals with stupid excusses most of the times(in general to all promoters of thessaloniki)
3)that people prefer not to attend parties at all, mainly because of the promoters attitude towards them and maybe(something that the people them selves should answer )because of the music or the lockals or the level of proffesionality or or or or.....
4) that eventhough the lockals are for a fact a big part of the lockal scene and for sure give their best in every party for the people, they dont get the respect that they deserve from the promoters...not only financially but also personally (refering to the promoters attitude that treat them like they are doing them a favour)
so i ask all of you this...promoters and party goers...
Instead of fighting all the time beetween you/us wich is something that we all do for at least 4 years now in thessaloniki ,and since we all see that this is not what people want from us ,wouldnt it b better for once in our life time to sit down as one group and see what we can all do before its too late?...Thessaloniki has been always one step ahead in electronic music and has a very powerfull and supportive scene (something that is said by almost all the foreing artists that appear here)...is it worth it for promoters to loose that?...is it good for the djs foreing and lockals to play in 30 people audience?...i think we can all agree that no...this is not what it used to b and its a pitty to end up like this....
so......
what do you think should b done for all of us to b happy?....how can we all work together for once to bring people to the party that will keep both promoters and djs ?....i think it is common sense to say that first of all we have to understand each others issues and see what djs can do to help promoters and the other way arround....to give again that unified feeling in our scene and keep above all ,people happy ....i know this has been tried in the past with no effect what so ever, cause no promoter was willing to give away even the smallest piece of what can b called"the money pie"......what are your thoughts?...your propositions?....i would really love to see if any other promoter has anything else to say besides zoi.......

to be honest,i think that this that marios is talking about is a yotopia.at least with the promoters that exist right now there is no posibility of understanding each other,collaborations etc.the scene is small,very small in thesaloniki and and it is better to loose the eye than the name. i really would love to see tha scene as it was before 4 years but i dont think it is possible with the existant ppl.at least not without a critical change on their mind(something which i concider rather imposible)!

I have to admit that Marios has the balls and the right to speak about an issue that seems that 90% of our local djs
care only about their ego and a couple of beers when they play for free for the promoters....
So i think local djs have to get more proffesionalism in their technique first and then to their mentality by claiming their rights to payment.
But as long there are wannabe djs who dont have a clue about mixing and who are willing to play for free,then the promoters will get em to play as they will fit their greedy plans...even if that means shitty flow for the party and crap mixes....
So i think proffesional local djs have to get their self respect back and demand their rights from the koutoponirous promoters.... |

yes i agree with you hellios that from the djs side what we can try to achieve, is getting better and better with our mixing skills, sound quality stage appearence and what ever other issue that makes the difference beetween a good dj or a bad dj....I also trully feel for the new djs ,cause they know that if they dont play for free they might never see the dj booth of a party...been there/done that....BUT....it seems as you very well said that promoters have to pay much more attention to the hole line up and choose the lockal/support djs according to their level of techincs / party experiences /music style and their ability to create the right music flow etc etc....but this is something that doesnt happen and therephore the crowd most of the times comes only to listen to the X live act and they leave right after ....I personnaly played a lot of parties that in my opinion i was not suited for ,due to my music style, and attended a lot more that i believe that i would fit better....an issue that promoters also should take under consideration when arranging the line up and fees.... |

i havent post in this forum for ages but i cannot see all this mess in this topic and just laugh i must write also! after my post i wont open isratrance again i havent did it for a year and more and gonna do it again...first of all i wanna say to all the guys that come here and say this is trance scene dont expect to make money to stay at their home and do their hobbies cause some of us dont only wait to take some money from this but •we give more money that we earn for music and equipment! as a dj i admit that in the begining everyone will play for free but this is the biggest mistake! i did it and i regret it caus enow i undertand the hole situation!at least i made it only a few times and not some years .... but this is not only djs fault! the biggest fault is fromt he promoters side! aiming to win 100 euros more they put djs that have plaied 2-3 times in their hole life and their only job is to download some music and play! how do u wait of the people to come , pay and listen someone that knows he is doing nothing just grab some music online and go and put it in the cdjs!
my opinion is that exept doc noone of the other locals icluding me can bring more than 30 people to the party |(their friends) sometimes not even them!and when a local plaies and has more than 100 people is because he plaies the hour that the club is full a little before the guest or the after the guest! locals djs are so much to be respected ! we have like 20 here? maybe more? and we are friends with each other audience djs promoters !dont wait a friend to respect u cause u play good!hahaha he has the music u play and enjoy it at this room!
but why the parties now has only 150 people? maybe the guests are not the guests that people want? i saw lately in ticon and atmos packed clubs ! what happened? the promoters was better? hahahahahha their fees are double or triple more than the other acts that came and this is what people can understand! noone would go and pay for someone who comes because he is a cheep act!i am bored of going to parties and listen better music from the locals! so i think it is better form the promoters to think that if they wanna book a cheap act is better not to book at all! in thessaloniki some acts especially from germany will be locals if this situation continues!my opinion is that if the locals that relally diserve it only plays from now and then the whole situation will get more clear!better parties, better profits and all people more happy!
something else i wanna say about the price at the parties! if i didnt knew all the promoters so as i can enter free in their parties i wouldnt be able to pay the entrance fee!u ask people to work 8 hours(25 euros) so as they will be able to pay the entrance ! i think that if it was 15 euros like it was the past years the crowd would be much more and more profits! what do u prefer? 20 euros * 100-130 people or 15 euros* 250 people! nevermind ! nothing gonna change as the situation is now! we lost it and i dont think we will find it again! we are all hobbistes!

well dont get THAT sorry for yourselvs it is not tssalonikis personal problem (or a reality).
in israel the situation is not that different.
perhaps besides the big productions moust of the promoters look on the local d.j's like granteed.
for example last summer one of the productions i played in asked me to help them with the pre-sale point and after i agreed they called me 10 times a day asking me to meet the buyers..
when the party came (800+) ppl they said "we thought we give you a stage and u give us a set and help out" bla bla bla next party bla bla bla on and on......
many other stories with many other musicians all around the world.
BUT when this problem bocoming to be "usual reality" it probobly means one main issue......
THE IS NO MONEY IN THE LOCAL SCENE
i cant take sides couse im a d.j who more then once found himself hearing some stupid exuses about my money.
in the other hand im a promoter and i have never un paid in my life (somtimes we cant effort to pay "enought" so im sure not every one is satissfaid about it)
and marios knows what ive had been throw when he played at my event
all in all im sure that if the scene will work together u can creat a possitive vibe again
and ppl will crowl of of their holes and be back on the dance floors

Some truths that all of you should know i guess.
A)Someone mentioned (i think the original poster Inner State) that 8-10 years ago the local dj's were getting payed 80-100 thousand drachmas at that time,thats not true and whenever the local dj's where getting payed in the past (which was indeed something rare at that time) they would get no more than 30.000 drachmas.The only difference back then was that dj's (which were very few and very good unlike today's djs) were able to play as much as 3 events a week in both public and private events because back then even Friday and Sunday was a party day and not only Saturday.
B)Not just one promoter answered in the last topic,many promoters answered there but just one from Thesaloniki i guess,and it seems to me that this topic was opened especially for the scene in Thesaloniki,please correct me if i am wrong.Thankfully in Athens we dont have fights between dj's and organisations and we dont face such problems at least yet.
C)Noone involved in the greek trance scene is making a living out of organising parties or djing,whoever thinks that he is trully naive and doesnt have clue of what he is talking about.This is 2008 and not 2001-2004 when the organisations where few and the people attended massively parties in numbers as high as 1500-2000 people in each event.DJ's make just some side money out of parties and yes the organisers must keep these deals with the local dj's no matter how many people a party had in the end.If an organiser doesnt pay its local dj's then these dj's shouldnt work again with those organisers the problem is though that most of the dj's beg to play in events even for free in order to promote themselves and satisfy their vanity and thats why the country is full of wannabe djs that have destroyed the ground for the few real and good djs.Some organisers know this and take this into their own advantage by exploiting young local djs and artists.
D)Decreasing the price of a party entrance fee doesnt always attrack bigger crowds and if a 20 euros entrance fee attracted 200 people when a 15 euros entrance fee would attract 300 people then trust me the prices would be lower.Whoever wants to go to a certain party will go no matter what the price,the people who want to listen to talamasca will go there no matter what,the people who want to listen to hallucinogen will go there no matter what,the people who want to go to parasense will go there no matter what and the people who want to just party will go there no matter what.The people who dont go to a party because of its entrance fee are very very few and i know this from my party organising experience when i hosted events with 35 euros entrance (6 years ago when 35 euros was a lot of money and the maximum entrance in Greece was 25) and people who were very limited on budget no matter what happened every weekend came to every party paying for 35 euros.People dont come to parties anymore not because of the prices but because of other more important reasons like the lack of decent party venues for example which is the major problem if you ask me.
