to answer some above points....
psytrance already is a busness in many parts of the world. Some larger labels make a preety penny, and alot of forign labels, Russia, Isreal, are in bed with the mob, because the badies can smell the currency
Also we dont own it, and i think that everyone has a right to experiance or hear it.
Mush 7 out 10 of those pop loves wont like it anyways. It will be to fast, to repetive, etc etc.
Also what about the "saved by psy trance types"
Takuan your one of those, and there are several others on this list. People who were heading down a dead end path in life, listening to what ever they may have, and then they came across Psytrance, and it turned them around. Psytrance has had a saving effect on many folks before.
I am willing to bet that prior to their conversion, any of them would be people that would easily fit into your classifications Mush of people not worthy of psytrance. Today they are major dj's of our scene, major artists, and contributers to our gatherings
so who are we to decide who is and isnt fit to hear our music, and if it strikes them right become apart of our scene.

people are going to try to sell you a lot of things in a lot of ways. but you don't have to buy anything you don't support. you can get your CDs right off the rack in the EZ-up tent at a major international festival, straight from the label, or you can be a kid-who-just-discovered-it and buy it from wal-mart. its up to you to vote with your dollar for whatever you want. if nobody buys red bull, then they wont try to sell it to us anymore. they'll take it where people want it. money talks. |

Ahhhhhh the dreaded money thread.
This is definitely a two-headed sword and the topic of conversation can end up either way for me, so i'll be choosy with which words i submit.
On one hand:
I'm all about spreading the love and the know about psy trance music and any form of electronica for that matter.
Because I figure this: (I'm not sure if someone has touched on this already in this particular thread but anyways...) The more that know about the music... The more that will be contributed to the Psytrance Collective as a WHOLE. And that's good if one were to ask me. The More the Merrier! The More on th e Floor contributing their precious energy the better! The Know is going to spread either way and I dont think a topic on I.T. will do much to combat it. We could try a rally or a sit-in or something outside of Spook's basement but im gonna go head and say 'Good Luck' on that one. Spook will probably join in and in about an hour ya'll will forget what the hell you were even doing and start a drum circle. Lol.
Spook has come a long damn way with his sound and his label and if he wants a major dist. co. to dist. his shiz or fly a massive Geo banner behind an aeroplane... Then Fuck. By All means. Can I pilot?
As for the whole 'psy trance is gonna turn pop' shit. I say fat friggin french fries. There's no way Trance will ever lose its soul because its entire premise is BASED ON IT. FIRE! ENERGY! Whatever you wanna call it but if it loses its essence it wont be Trance and that's about all there is to it. Without Soul, Trance is nothing. The only thing that turns pop are people's tastes. As we get older we tend to settle and turn to Downtempo and chillout(I'm not saying that young people don't listen to chillout... I LOVE autechre, amon tobin, boards, ilkae, The Cure... it just becomes the preferred taste overall.)
Anyways, We're in the middle of a PSYTRANCESURGE!!!! There's a BIG upswing going on in the trance world and we're going to see more and more and more and even more NEW SOUND from every provoked individual with a computer and some creativeness flowing through them. Shit's gonna get wiggy folks! And SOON! Boom Boom BOOM!!! Quote me on it.
And then on the other hand: Walmart is the antichrist. Dont support the mega-conglomerate pricks by buying their shit until they shape up k?

this walmart thing is confusing though why not just make the songs available for download at
geomagnetic.tv? also why wal mart there are tons of online corporate stores that would download music it seems silly anyone going to walmart.com in search of psytrance.

I dont see how selling psytrance @ walmart.com will hurt our community. psytrance artists would have to be high on the list of shitted on artists around the globe,
I think its foolish to say that someone isnt as devoted towards trance when any psytrance - producer, dj, visual artists, sacrifices so much day in and day out for their belief and their passions, not for money,
why should such beautiful art that we all love and cherish so much only be for a few?
like someone said earlier, I was on the path to self destruction, but found psytrance and it changed everything, why would I want this just for me?
everyones bitching about this hip hop, pop society that we live in, then why not try to make a change in more peoples life,

It's already gone pop, witness GMS, Infected Mush, Asterix, et al.
Regardless of the marketing venue, the psytrance artist makes very little from CD sales except for a blessed few. In this day and age it doesn't seem to make a difference whether wally world carries a title or not, especially in the download arena. I not sure who would randomly decide to purchase this music although the chances of that occurring are greater with more sales outlets.
Importantly, I'd imagine that Walmart and iTunes, and the like, have much sharper accounting practices than these small download sites. Frankly, for an artist, there's absolutely no way to measure download sales so you have no idea what's really happening. You can bet the big record companies make sure Walmart gets the numbers correct. Of course they can still lie to the little guys but that's too much work given the number of titles they stock. And hence i'd trust Wally more to disburse royalties than a small operator. Remember, just because Walmart carries it doesn't mean it's pop, it too can disappear into the gargantuan stock pile.

well....
maybe not behind the dj
but the BEST festival in brazil has always and i really mean always (2000 or so)-since its one of the sources of money for the family of the producers- has been sponsored by Coca with banners on the bars...and thats normal over there, why to not make money out of corps to be abble to pay artists (locals also! dont forget about them please!!) and performers?
another thing...i dont even drink that often, but back home one of the major incomes in a party is the bar, something that lacked in all of the festivals i have been here so far...is it a legal reason?

Underage drinking or an illegal tavern are the easiest ways for authorities to stop a party...
