am I the only one feeling this way..? or is it that regular psychill/ambient releases are slowly evolving to sound more and more psychedelic, especially with some releases this year like the Chilled C'quence, Oxycanta, Arcana, Beneath the surface etc...
Nothing is said that has not been said before.

I don't think so. And i think Oxycanta isn't so psychedelic. It is very good & smooth pure ambient.
But have another one like Chakra's Dream, Till Broenner, Tor Lundvall and so many artists which didn't make psy-ambient.

P.S-WHAT ANNOYS ME THE MOST ARE THE MELODIES SOMETIMES SO PREDICTABLE AND SHPONGLEOGENIC LIKE

i think as more artists make this style of music its obvious which ones are innovators and take the style to new places while others try to echo what was successful in the past. as our tastes develop as listeners we will be more particular in what we are listening for to satisfy us. its always going to be a challenge to find the gems in the giant amount of music out there... and as they say, if you dont like what you hear, make your own damn music... im trying more of this myself lately.... and its very tedious.. so i have more and more respect for the artists whose tracks i spin....
as far as it being more psychedelic.... i dunno.. sometimes. but other times not.

peace to you too

p.s. all evaluation of music must take account, not only of is plastic beauty, but of its greater criesser capacity to stimulate the mind

If you compare it to Cafe Del Mar, sure But the psychedelic Chill-Out/Ambient scene isn’t getting MORE psychedelic imo. It seems more that a certain "Shulman" (you know what I mean) vibe is growing bigger then what’s healthy. 3 out of 5 releases these days seem to contain "that" vibe. When (in the old days) "regular" trance was good, it had a change in music when Cafe Del Mar and the likes popped out. Fast after that, the quality of Cafe Del Mar and the other compilations went away, and it became more mainstream, or just boring. I feel, I don’t know, that something of the same is happening to this chill-out scene of ours. GREAT releases, and it's mostly quality AND quantity. But soon, this era will be over, and the chill scene will be a copycat of it self. One thing I miss when it comes to the more psychedelic chill. Is the vibe and feeling of FSOL, The Orb ect. The more acid feeling instead of Chill feeling.. If you know what I mean. I love the Shulman "thing" (What can I call it?), but with such many releases containing the same feeling over and over again. It will soon be boring and repeating (We’re already repeating formulas)

You people with the taste for Shulman vibes produce beautiful music, especially releases such as Androcell (!!!).
But what about the more English acid feeling? Who produces that these days?

peace to me

i don't know what you mean by shulman feeling exactly, because a lot of his releases are so different.

i mean compare zero degrees to the vitties to nn3 to unexpected visitor

sounds like a different artist altogether

i, for one, think that the variety is out of this world

there is something for everyone out there, it is just a matter of looking.

also, i feel that androcell sounds very very little like shulman

there's plenty of psychedelic music out there, just don't expect it to produce the same effect as your favourite albums from 15 years ago did; you are no longer the same person           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

No no, i dont mean Shulman as his music spesific. What I mean is that whole vibe (I'm having a hard time coming up with a word/label that will cover it all). Capsula, Enthyogenic, Androcell ect ect ect ect ect ect are all (imo) in the so called Shulman vibe. Can you not see my point, or what I'm trying to say?

psytones, I don't think that there have any "*** feeling". Especially Shulman feeling.
Anyone of us have unique opinion and feeling about music, here - ambient music.

Only for 2006 have more of 20-30 releases which isn't so psychedelic, but they still are ambient. And yes, have another one - psy-ambient releases, which is great!

And what you mean with "more psychedelic"?
With 100+ bpm? Or full of goa/psy elements, like melodies, notes, etc?           http://www.radio.powernet.bg

okay when I started this topic I felt more psychedelically connected to a few tracks from the mentioned albums/compilations.... thats all
@psytones, I see what you mean... by now, its more like that vibe has created standards for psy chill/ambient. Quality is indeed getting bettar... but what I meant was totally different, tracks like cell- floating retention, tripswitch - calabi yau, the sympath track, artists like capsula, chilled cquence etc etc to name a few, have totally evolved out to make the music more psychedelic imo.(please note that this is my opinion, and you have youres).
and it all comes back to... like someone on this thread mentioned "everything in life is a matter of personnal taste"           Nothing is said that has not been said before.
