what of the things above here didnt apply to punk? i see alot more fullon getting (ch)easy and commercial and i wouldnt be surprised at all if it showed up soon on the bigger european festival together with armin van buuren trance..

The music is definitely changing, but for myself, not in a good way. So much in fact that my interests in music has shifted from psytrance to mostly psy-ambient.
One of the main reasons I think is that most of the full on/melodic stuff have turned into music with these one note melodies/chords that happen at the beginning of every bar in a measure. I personally don't like it, and it really takes away from the emotion that music melody is suppose to portray in a song.
Dark psy has not been generating too much good stuff either. It seems like many artists are more interested in creating music with a super fast BPM as opposed to creating music with a scary atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, the music is still scary. Just not in the "good" kinda of scary sense.
The big picture, overall, is that the music has been becoming very generic as of recent. So many people are trying to create psy music right now that the number of artists have potentially increased exponentially since 3 years ago.
This bothers me alot. I started listening to psytrance back in 2002. Even then, I was listening to alot of stuff back from the 90s like Astral Projection, Transwave, and Hallucinogen. The music was good. Hell the music from 2000- mid 2005 was actually good. That's not really the case, IMO, anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I still listen to artists such as Ghreg on Earth, Deviant species, Silicon Sound, and Talpa. But seriously, when was the last time these guys even released an album? Maybe they even see the scene is becoming too flooded with generic music.
I would caution psy artists to be very careful. This is a very similar to picture to the dot com crash back in the 90s and the video game crash of 1983. If you guys don't be careful with the amount of stuff you're releasing,then you could end up destroying the scene yourselves.

i don't think there's any problem if there are new people coming to our music culture.....

Psytrance has changed...not because of the people but because of the image percieved by the masses.
From it's inception 'psytrance' has been attacked...similar trends in the past were leveraged against the 'blues' as the devils's music..
If psytrance has to hold it's own, it's upto to the global community to vigorously defend it and make people aware that it is inevitably about the music.
Just my 2 cents...love & respect!

Psytrance is all about change!
Since the begining...
Always changing... always will...
Psy will never get lost in time, and thats why I love it.
The sad part of it, is that the scene is ruined by popularity and the masses invasion makes me get more interested in diferent styles like Downtempo and Progressive House than before...
Even more than psytrance...
...humm maybe Im changing too.

Psytrance is changing.
There is alot of new fantastic psytrance but also alot of new really really really bad psytrance.
Psytrance is changing however the big festivals all still have the same old shit overpriced Handwavers who press spacebar, who have no idea how really to perform live or who don't even care about psychedelic vibe or trance. They go to get paid and make fun of the stupid hippies who spend all their money. |

PSYTRANCE DOESNT CHANGE- if you think about it you can tell a psy track as soon as you hear it. theres a diffrence there between psy and lets say tiesto. so i dont see a change i just see more technological advances, but the formula is basicaly the same. i have to be honest i deleted all my songs and now i only listen to PROTOCULTURE |

LOL THATS KINDA FUNNY. getting payed isnt that the point? why would you travel abroad and play " for drug addicts" free lol ? this is 2008 nothing is free. if you dj a party thats your job for the night and you better get payed. i mean if its a house party then no but if its a club and festival screw that wheres the money at |

I think everything is always changing and thats a very good thing, without change there is no progress, everything stays the same. Look at nature, when something stays the same too long, it becomes obsolete and eventually dies off.
