is there any major change in the style of psytrance since 2000-2001...i mean i really love the music but sometimes when i hear the some "old psytrance" alongside the "latest unreleased" i find it hard to distinguish the new from the old unless of course i myself have information before hand. i find this to be peculiarity of house & trance...its weird can someone tell me how to tell an old track from a new track           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

Old tracks usually have inter-started echoes, effects like UFO LANDING, STRINGS like 2000's LORD OF THE RINGS music spectrum, and the bpm start is usually half to a minute after the first hearing. Usually. Of course there is nt any mathematical formula granted for this, and the audio sound effects did not match to a different state. And yet, I can/t tell the difference beetween songs of 1960 and 1969. Hmmm.. mm..            ".. You claim that this thing .. did not affect the larger part of your brain!! Then, how come everyone else describe you as an Extra fu.. terrestrial !!!

Trance as we know it won't exist in 5 years time, or else it will be the new disco           I don't use ideas. Every time I have an idea it's too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven't run out of curiosity. -RR

You are always fast as usual Pavel, but this time it's nonsence ;-)
Psytrance still does its work @ parties. May be almost no artists doing psytrance? But it doesn't mean that psytrance is dead. Music is never dead, my friend ...it becomes classic ;-)           I may rise, but I won't shine ...

Progressive has been mixed and blended with house and minimal techno to yield results yet unheard. Have we heard anything like Solead before?

Darkpsy has powered on, carving out new niches in the night. The tempo trend is upward, but its bound to come back down... and in the meantime many new artists are entering the field.

Suomisaundi grew up a little, some artist became technically minded and continue to explore deviant territory with better production value than before.

The new school Goa trance movement has taken off thanks to Suntrip and the various netlabels engaged in releasing free music online.

The Twisted Records posse continues to innovate in strange new directions; what will they make of Younger Brother in 20 years?

Full-on is bifurcating into commercial Ibiza-style anthems/80s remixes and genuinely deep music once more... you cannot compare GMS to Mr. Peculiar for instance.

Techtrance is experiencing something of a revival with new ideas at hand thanks to labels like Mechanical Dragon, Cosmic Conspiracy, and others. I've heard some very interesting new ideas at play here and can't wait for more.

How about psychedelic chill and downtempo? There are always new ideas surging up from the depths... not everything sounds like Entheogenic or Saafi Brothers... I hear Solar Fields is doing a trance album soon, and won't that be great? I look forward to more deep trance at about 120 BPM... there is much to accomplish at this tempo.

So, as I see it, there are always new sounds cropping up--many of which are variations on old patterns, but that is what the evolution of music is all about, going back to the beginning...

Psytrance is very much alive.. I think it just is dividing.. One goes
bigger and wants more "clubby" feel to it.. The other goes all the way
psychedelic (as before!)

I dont think the psychedelic feel and sound will disappear from
the psytrance scene. Sure, some artists bring it more away from this,
but it will not disappear..

No rules for psytrance!! Madness and peace twisted together            3o~ kriz aka krize 3o~ ....Horrordelic Records.... http://www.horrordelic.com

Its easy to distinguish a track from 1999-2000-2001 era from the recent released tracks because older tracks were much more original and atmospheric than the new ones. They had more spirit if you ask me and it was pure joy listening to them.

Even tracks by the same artists are so different with each other.

Take Deedrah's masterpiece Reload album and compare each track there with any of the tunes he has released in the last 3-4 years, the production might be better in our days but the older tracks are much more original and interesting in my humble opinion.

Try to compare Etnica's old tunes with the recent ones,no comparison at all.

Older Koxbox with the latest album? No way.

Space Cat,Oforia,Astral Projection,Yahel and Infected Mushroom? Its like listening to tottally different artists in our days in worst editions if you ask me.

Even Skazi was so much better during his debut album,i dont know what happened to him after Animal album.

Anyone heard Astrix's first psy trance tunes? They were gold masterpieces and very original and atmospheric.

GMS older stuff comparing to their latest tunes? Not even once in a million.

Bamboo Forest?X Dream?Orion?Electric Universe?Man With No Name?Logic Bomb?S Range? One of the same i guess and the list just keeps going on.

Not to mention an endless list of artists that just stopped producing music unfortunately for us.Artists like Power Source,Sandman and his Green House Effect project,Mark Allen,Tsuyoshi,Blue Planet Corporation who dissapeared for many years,Total Eclipse and many more.

Some got bored, some got tired, some got rich, some stopped, some just dont care anymore, its very natural if you ask me,no one can do the same stuff for many years and its natural for people who have seen the world ten times and have played in crowds of tens of thousands to get bored and tired with all this situation, these guys have travelled so much that they see nightmares with airplanes in their sleep and waiting queues on airports.Noone can blame them for not being as original and innovative and spiritual they used to be back in the early days.

Very very few artists developed in my humble opinion into something better than they were before.Artists like Prometheus who for me is by far the best artist in the scene at the moment,Son Kite and Atmos the progressive masters,Vibrasphere who keep delivering amazing music,Silicon Sound who is also great,Dino Psaras and Tristan who are still front line and both very original and sometimes even controversial,Hallucinogen ofcourse with his amazing Shpongle and Younger Brother projects,Jaia and the Spirallianz guys and Xerox along with Illumination who are by far the best and most powerful act coming from Israel at the moment in my humble opinion.

Things naturally evolve like Fragletroller said above but unfortunately not always for the better and for sure not in this case.

Thanks to all the names mentioned above and everyone else who i forgot for the wonderful legacy you have left us,even in ten years from now the music from those days will sound like heaven in our ears no matter what else you will have produced in the meanwhile.Really thanks for all the memories and amazing melodies.

P.S I am no music expert the above are just my personal opinion.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
