When I find something wrong, its means that:
1)I`m too young for this one.
2)I`m too old for this one.
Psychedelic culture and psychedelic visions and psychedelic trance - its something more that forms of our creavity. I`m sp happy that there are so much different scenes inside GREAT trance scene. We are all can choose wich more resonates with our own vibrations. Shiva still dancing so we are dancing too

I would like to separate rumour from fact. So if you know this to be true and have seen some evidence, please share it with everyone.
peace be with you

I saw a split in the scene at a club recently. It was between those who just stood on the side wanting the music played to be more psychedelic and more trance and those who just danced.
I don't know what kind of music it was that was playing but people were dancing and I was standing.
I can't dance to a lot of music that's played these days, and on top of it, I find it hard to dance alongside those dancing to this music I can't dance to. I don't feel the same as them.
What can I do?
Listen to music I like by myself. There are no djs that play the music I like where I live (except me, but I'm not an ambitious dj trying to get gigs all the time.) So I listen on my own for my own pleasure.

its common knowledge
http://gigaom.com/2008/04/13/the-incredibly-shrinking-music-industry-emi-shutting-down-some-asian-offices/
EMI’s move makes me wonder how long before the other three music labels — Warner, Universal and Sony-BMG — follow suit. EMI over the past few years has become the canary in the coal mine: It’s not the biggest of the music majors, and as a result, has been open to take more draconian measures to survive the music industry meltdown.

and here we are talking about gold hits

Tower Records Edging Closer to Disaster, Possible Liquidation
The once-proud Tower Records is now edging closer to the rocks, according to continued reports. The chain has been struggling with mounting debt, and major labels were recently forced to freeze shipments following various non-payments. Last week, the dire financial situation failed to thaw, part of a quickly worsening situation.

lol.......psy-trance labels Spasm
For the record I work freelance within the mainstream music industry.
My dissertation for my BA covered the RIAA's propaganda war in the mid nineties.....Napster case etc.
I'm sorry if I am being overly picky about this, but I have a genuine interest in this issue and am I only really interested in specific figures relating to THIS scene.

so psy-trance music shouldn't be in the music industry? I cant see how come.

since this scene is not mainstream, you can only know by what regular records labels, show or tell about their personal sales figures.
I know a couple, pretty solid and what they tell me, is exactly what you or me or anyome suspects, that sales are going down, specially cd's.
Any label in here, and that question had been asked already, can tell you this fact.
Another way of knowing is the obvious fact that some of them cant handle anymore and close down.
The psy-trance music scene is small, and the grafics above concern the major labels, ans the mainstream industry, just do the maths.
What will happen in the future is each artist find his own niche, work with his own label and promote his own music, most of it online, imo |

This, at least with the mainstream I can actually check figures for myself. You seem to be suggesting I go by hear say....not my bag at all.

Oh the RIAA claimed that Napster was responsible for the drop in sales...when actually the country was in a recession....less disposable income......I am sure you can do the maths

i'll repete, this scene is small, there is no such thing as an association to do cosumer trends reports or marketing strategies.
Why do you keep asking question you already know the answer to?
And yes what you can know in fact, is what labels themselves show you, at least in psy-trance, and i'm sure in most of underground music labels, being it house or techno, drum'n bass, because their not confortable on showing real statistics (artists and IRS).
Another way would be to see which labels seem to be growing, (artists rooster, releases schedule, etc) or which music seems being sold.
A way to know if a music genre is failing is when some of its labes close.
This may cause some labels to change their music style acording to what they think is the future trend. |

not sure if this is what you mean, but psy-trance never got mainstream, at least until now, what you can find is a couple of artists, who reached some mainstream recognition, and some of them at the cost of dramatically changing their style.
Others by fusing with other styles, and others yet by introducing diferent projects for a specific genre. |
