I understand your point and agree it's split. Also I am thankful I don't hear Dark Psy at parties I go to. And neither Full-On or at least the Full On of the banal kind. Alien Project and friends

For me it isn't just the style of music ( though psy-breakz?? what the fuck?) but other things like the quality of DJ's......beat matching really isn't difficult....

I don't want to travel half way round the world for a good party.

I think before we split again we must define what is a realy good party and how we can acheive that:
(Besides the music that is a personal taste)

1.A party where everyone is happy and there is not even one person sad or unhappy.
2.A perfect organization where there is not something missing( Water, beers, good soundsystem, toilets etc.)
3.Nice prices....
4. No entrance under 18 years old.
5. Smart and professional security which is capable to find the people who want to get rich by selling drugs but can be also pleasant and smiling to everyone else...
And much more can be added...

But i think the most important is people who care about this scene and mostly about the other people!

So when a party happens and it is not good we must find and show the mistake that happened and if it can't have any improvment the next time we must never participate in this particular party again...

How can we separate from the mainstream and stay there?           http://www.whatacunt.co.uk/

You must choose private "solutions"...           ---RealPsyLifeForRealPsyPeople---

I desagree with you...the "private" solutions are ok but thay can never be the main format of the parties. The psy-gatherings must be available for all that want to come into an underground culture. But for this to happen you have to have a strong scene (underground for sure), who "gives" people a strong sense of identity...

I think he meant more about the attitudes and postures than styles....i also love all styles of psy-trance and they all make sense to me in this scene...

I just want to get rid of the comercial vibe and meaningless dimension that took care of this scene and culture. A culture that in its original intent is a big part of who i am...

^^ yes Ellon I was thinking more on those lines.

I think maybe a radical rethink of how the parties are organised and by who is perhaps necessary.......infact more than that. The labels and artists need to consider the role they have played in crossing the line into the mainstream and the effect that has had. Their egos and bank accounts may have been fulfilled, but at the cost of the rest of us.           http://www.whatacunt.co.uk/

I think that the mainstream is long way separated from the psychedelic scene, the only problem is that there is no psychedelic scene right now at all! I mean listening to all the psytrance that is coming out every week or every day and not finding anything psychedelic well for me that means that the scene my friends and me loved so much is non existent let alone separated from the commercial scene! I think more replaced by the commercial side, than separated. I am sure that of course we it's impossible to hear all of the music that is coming out today but the majority which i try to listen to for me is not psychedelic, some very good quality yes, some not also.

My 2 cents,
          Boom :)

THis topics feels sad.

Outhere we are a bunch of people who wants something with soul, something that you can feel proud being part of and love.

Its very nostalgic, but when you see todays scene is exactly hwat it wasnt supposed to be. Something was lost in the middle.....

But no time to complain I think, better work on a solution.

There seems to be some agreement that commercial greed has a big part in this.

I know for some bands in other styles of music that signing to a major record label results in losing a core group of fans.

Do we think its the promoters that have pushed the scene too far or the record labels?

Does anyone think that DJ's and artists play too big of a role. After all they are put up on a stage and highlighted with the crowd seemingly worshipping them and how many then want to be the next so and so. Doesn't this encourage too much individualism and for egos to get inflated. Then consider the means that DJs/acts are selected......it very often isn't about merit!!!

since 2001 sales in music are peaking down, so i dont think we can talk about greed here, but more about survival, specially in this scene.
Artists and labels are forced to follow what seems to be the smartest direction in terms of public demand.
Keeping an eye in the future so they wont feel outdated.
