I hate it when DJ's go absoloutely crazy just to get the crowd moving. I've seen so many of them bounce to tracks crazily which makes them look funny! Well if its humor they're creating.. Job!

Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.

hmm... this thread puzzles me. From my logic, if I am not into the music, I am not going to play it. If it doesn't make me wanna dance, then how do I expect it to make others dance? If I wanted to play music and watch a whole bunch of others dance while I am not on the same level as them, I'd play top 40.

For me there's something magical about seeing how people reacted to a certain song and how it affected me the first time I heard it too. I really don't think that it has anything to do with ego, but simply the fact that a dj or an artist was a listener or dancer first. Never forget where you came from. If you are so concerned about seeing the djs enjoy the music that they are playing, may I suggest listening to webstreams of your favorite music instead?           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I think that I understand you now... You don't like aggressive music.... I see now... maybe smooth jazz would be better for you.

Sorry for such a snide answer, but I'd almost take offense to the comment about the music being just noise... One person's noise is another's music, and rather than complain about it why not find the type of music you like and stick with it?

Last time I checked, nobody is really forced to go to these events and listen to the music.... All it takes is a little bit of research and you can easily filter any situation. It's like going to see a movie... Are you going to spend your money to go see a movie that you already don't like??? If you do and you hate it, do you go and tell the entire film industry to stop making those types of movies because the ego of the directors prevented you from having a good time?

I am sorry that I am being condescending, but it doesn't exude very much intelligence to complain about a situation that you can easily solve by choosing not to participate.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

electro, We have all been trying to make some sense of your words but i think we are just not seeing it (yes i swear i re-read your posts) and i STILL do not see where you explain how this whole thing relates to EGO. You need more than your opinion to state such things. Otherwise is not a fact it is in deed your opinion, and while it should be respected, i don't see why you should be forcing it down other people's throats without valid justification.           elementoftime.net

ok.....maybe i was too hard here !!
sorry..!!!!

of caurse its my opinion ...but this is what this forum all about ! sharing opinion no ?
some time i feel that djartist try to show their mucsels ....and not their music ....and thats the ego issue
as i said before ! i like fullon and prog and jezz and all kind and shape of music...... i talk on fullon because when it faster as it is in fullon ...many artists sound the same and it harder to feel/to hear what the guy is trying to say .....those who really into music do it right ....many others say : lets just kill 'em all it so fast ....and we looks so cool!!!.... it will work.....

now since i'm a trance lover and dancing for the last 10years to trance.......and i'm not Lithium grandmama !
i feel free to post this topic

nobody is saying you should not post topics or state your opinion. such words are not written anywhere.

all I was saying is you should not get all jumpy at the fact some (if not most) people failed to see exactly what you were saying, and did not agree with you. their point of view should be respected as well IMO.

Well.. actually. I did study classical music and jazz as well as soul and many other forms of dance music prior to even becoming a dj.... (but that's beside the point)

At the end of the day, there are a few absolutes that perhaps should be taken into consideration.

1. When you go to any event that features music and or dancing, you are subjecting yourself to another's taste in the music. The people who are subjecting their musical taste upon you have been asked by those arranging the event to subject the dancefloor to their opinion of what should be heard. Of course there will be those that do not neccesarrily agree with the opinion of those who were asked to give their opinion to the dancefloor. By opinion I am referring to musical taste. Now those that feel that the musical taste of those who were asked to play isn't something that they agree with, do have several options that could cause a simple resolution to the problem.

2.) This is a do-it-yourself type of subculture.... If you don't like what's happening, start doing things your way. If there are people that share your vision, you will attract those like minded individual. If not, then you will be creating your own personal utopia.

I have yet to understand the correlation you were trying to make connecting the aggressive music and the performer's ego.... Not to mention I still do not understand how it affects you. I have made a point to re-read your posts and even take into consideration that your thoughts were not completely communicable due to any language barrier, however what the music and the people who enjoy it have to do with an ego that diminishes your ability to enjoy a style of music that you already dislike is beyond my comprehention...

The main point I was trying to make in my previous post was it is fine for you to seek your own utopia and ideal circumstances, but please don't piss on someone else's utopia while you are trying to find yours. It wouldn't feel good if the shoe were on the other foot.

More often than not no matter where I go, whether its forums or in general public I see shitloads of people that are content with or even thrive upon complaining about the current state of things. Yet out of that group that complains maybe 1% of those individuals even bother to think about what can be done to make their situation more enjoyable, let alone doing anything about it.

There are a couple of sayings that come to mind that are relatively prevolent where I am. The first one is "Money talks and bullshit runs the marathon" What this means is you can talk about a situation till you are blue in the face, but it won't solve anything if there is no action taken.

The next saying holds true to many things in life and especially to forums... "Opinions are like assholes, Everyone has one and they all smell funny"

Now do you think because I have some b/s blue lettering that I am trying to impress my ego upon you? I could be just another user and I would still tell you that you could be served better doing what you enjoy rather than complaining about what you don't enjoy. That's just common sense. (However if common sense were common, everyone would have it)

Onto the musical comments, I am certain that trance is made with a little bit more forethought than just putting a whole bunch of strange sounds with a fast bpm... There is a certain amount of musicality and thought that goes into any type of music from gospel to IDM, and just because it's not as easily deciphered as Pop or other forms of mass marketed media doesn't make it any less musical. To quickly dismiss what someone has spent their energy upon as just noise is as ego-filled as what you are complaining about and just as damaging to the ego of those who have established a connection to this music as it is damaging to your ego for me to tell you that you have no clue what the hell you are talking about.

Now, if you would like to make some suggestions as to some of the artists that you enjoy in this particular genre of electronica, I am certain that there will be people more than happy to help you find the sounds you will be at home with. If you do decide to continue on this course, you will most likely be met with hostility from people who still fail to see your perspective of the situation due to the fact that you haven't been able to communicate your ideas without badmouthing a bunch of individuals that have made the decision to do instead of complain.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
