i like to listen to alot of music really ALOT of any genre..

for psy this album is bad.

for idm this album is bad.

for commercial mainstream this album is bad

i think they try to make a kind of new mairilyn manson/perfect circle style but... it fails!

only good thing to say is the production wich is top notch.. too top notch so top notch that its cleaness is bad cos it sounds sterile!

all artist have the choice to make what they feel is best for them that doesnt matter it should be good!

im sure one day when he stops "singing" and find a good fussion between trance and guitars they will serve as a nice album!

a perfect circle????

Even if the word you use is fail, there is nothing in their muisc (IM) that can be remoted related with a perfect circle!!!!!

It's simply bad...no matter the style!!!!

I'll have a go at a short review:

1. Poquito Mas
They try to do some breakbeat here but come on, it's just a 4x4. The "I'm gonna push you until you gonna get it" is just annoying.
However, the sound that comes in at 1:23 is nice. Sort of mangled voice. Too bad it's only a 17 seconds part and after that, the track is just annoying again. Bit aggressive. Some would call this psy-breakbeat, but it's not! It has zero psy. And then the ending, it's some sort of Slipknot, ugh!

4/10 (without the mangled voice thing it would have been a 3)

2. Saeed
This track is not a track, it's a song. So everyone hating lyrics, don't even start to try bother with this track. The intro takes tooo long (as is the case with almost every track on this album, btw.. There's just some filler-intro with an annoying beat that takes too long. This track only really starts at around 3:00). Same heavy guitar as in previous track. I would have liked some variation but unfortunately the whole album has the same guitar sounds.
Anyway, once this song really starts, I was quite surprised. For pop-music, I think a lot of people would like it.. It's catchy, cheesy, has good melodies and nice guitar-like sounds, bit of piano... Zero psy though. Nonetheless, I'm almost embarrassed to say that I actually quite like this song. It just catches me. I'm sorry

7.5/10 (could have been an 8 with a better intro)

3. End of the Road
BORING as hell. thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, and it just goes on like that! Argh. Most basic sounds ever, no melody. Sounds like they put in some random sounds and yeah before u know it, the SAME guitar is back again. Then Duvdev says something that sounds like 'Super Daring'. Well yea this is superdaring, but in a bad sense. Contains most annyoing build-up type ever (thump, thump, tukketukketukketukke, prrrrrrrrrrrt, you know what I mean) after which they go on with thumping and playing on what sounds like an elastic cord. They try to make up for this track in it's last two minutes by giving it some more energy, but it's too late.

3/10

4. Smashing the Opponent
Bad basic intro. But at least they put some melody into it. Anyway this track is a bit annoying because when the guy sings the part that I like the most ("I wanted to say, you shouldnt suffer this way" - this is just catchy again, except when he yells it near the end. I only like it when he sings it 'soft') there's annoying monotonous guitar and an annoying thump thump again. And for the rest it just progresses like crap. Well in the end it gets a bit more interesting because Erez is playing around with all sorts of sounds but it just doesn't work for me..

5/10

5. Can't Stop
I'm in love with the intro of this track! It's the best intro on this entire album, by far! It's certainly psychedelic. But ahww nooo, it stops at 1:40. And OMG we get a guitar again, guess what it sounds like... And now Duvdev begins to sing.. I was deceived with the intro, which is just a seperate track on it's own it seems. This rest of the track has nothing to do with it at all. Anyhow, this guitar kind of gets me going because it's energetic. But then the track goes in a different direction, leading to a part where I REALLY had to do my best to not turn off the sound... They add a f*ing HARDCORE beat while Duvdev's robotic voice loops "can't stop". It's sounds sooo bad! I can't believe it! Then we get one of those annoying build-ups again, after which the track tries to save itselves by reverting to the energetic guitar riff and adding some more energy, but this track was already ruined.

6/10 (would have been a 7 without the hardcore beat part, and a 4 without the intro..)

6. Herbert the Pervert
This track starts nice. This IS breakbeat, and we get a mangled voice again, I like. Too bad the guitar is the same sound again. After the intro the track becomes bad, boring and inspirationless for a while. O yea, and did I mention random?! There are a LOT of things on this album that just seem very random... Somewhere in the middle we get the breakbeat part again, a lot better than the rest of the track. The end just is not my cup of tea. There's this synth sound which is used a lot on this album, and I don't really like it.

6.5/10 (still a bit high because the breakbeat parts are nice)

7. Killing Time
This track's strongest point is probably it's diversity (external, not internal..). It sounds a bit like their remixes from the Doors tracks. It's relaxed. But it's just i-wanna-be-pop-music to be honest. And it has 'the guitar'.... Too short to make a noteworthy impression. And too 'poppy'.

5/10

8. Project 100
I was really looking forward to this track because I'm a big fan of Dancing with Kadafi, Stretched and Heavyweight. In light of those tracks, this track was a bit of a let-down. They focus too much on the heavy guitars IMO. In light of the other tracks on this album however, it's a good track. It has some good and funny moments, but alas also a lot of randomness. It's not as experimental as I hoped it would be. It also sounds 'empty' at some points. This album has more tracks suffering from emptiness... A lack of layers and of creativity I think. Anyhow, the good moments of this track are good, but too few. Maybe it needs some growing on me.

7/10

9. Franks
Crappy random intro again. Then for a while it seems like they wanna go somewhere with a melody, but in the end it turned out the be random again because they revert to intro-style. Around 4:00 mins this track picks up some groove and you start noticing that there was no guitar nor any lyrics yet. Yay! Around 5:00 it gets better, atmospheric build-up. And then it just goes all loose! One of the best parts on the album for sure! That's what one would think when they listen to this for the first time. But unfortunately it's short and repetitive, and I think it'll bore soon. Anyway, they make an outro which is quite nice. IM usually makes crappy outro's but this one it ok!

7/10

10. Slowly
I have to agree with Sputer here that this track is the biggest surprise on the album. The beginning is VERY LAME, but it get's better (from around 3:00). After that it has some very good moments (but also some less good moments). They guitar-kind of part near 7:00 is very nice.

8 / 10 (the bad parts could have been better)

11. Legend of the Black Shawarma
Lame intro again, sigh. And I hate the dan diggi dan! It sounds childish, they way they vocoded it. They extend their bad-intro until after 3:00, when the track (or again, a song) actually starts. Duvdev sounds a bit bad here. Correction: Very bad! After that, crappy build-up again. And Duvdev just ruins it. But for the rest it doesn't sound very good either. They try to fix it with a guitarlike solo in the end, but again, too late.

5 / 10

Sooo yea, it's just not really my cup of tea, except for a few tracks or a few moments on other tracks. However, I can imagine that people like this a lot.

Edit: After reading my review I notice that it's a bit negative... I think I'm just expressing my personal disappointment about IM. And I think this disappointment is a consequence of the fact that I absolutely love IM's first 3 albums and I always hope they'll make something like it. Or that they'll make something good, because I know they can! And I like metal, I like rock, I like psytrance, hell I can even listen to some pop-music! But this just doesn't work for me. It's not my intention to flame IM because I still respect them a lot for what they have done and I'll always be a fan (of their earlier work).

They released it with Perfecto? isnt that Paul Okenfolds's label...what sort of a genre are they targeting? is it the PO , Tiesto, Armin Van Burren or are they targeting the Goths Marlyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails or are they trying to do Prodigy, Chemical Brothers style...from my understanding IM is likely to join the Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk brandwagon..they are too serious for happy ectasy loving crowd, they are not dark enough for the goths...but their sounds would work with those who like The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers etc.
I think they really need think about who they are making music for..for psychedelic trance lovers they definitely have Deeply Disturbed them...though i somehow have enjoyed them in their new incarnation...i do like the experimental cross over yet not so far from but distant enough style they evolving into. All i do expect is a mainstream version of the track Psycho...i am sure that they can rework the track to spread the psy poison in small doses to the non psy crowd..
There is the standard sound that i call "typical IM" that comes through in this one...it was there in Converting Vegetarians, Cities of the Future as well as Viscious...i like this sound and i think it do well on dance floor maybe not at Boom or Vuuv but definitely at Creamfields and Loveparade, Cyberfest and Cochella..nevertheless it would be wrong to say that its crap...it may not have that thing you are used to but its a new album and you have approach it with a fresh mind...the problem is the past is creating an expectation and there is a mismatch of expectation. You could complain, bitch and moan about it ...but definitely IM has created a new style which is not as crude as Punk, or is not as counter culture as GOth..I think they are trying to find a footing and eventually this style which they have developed, Pissedoff Trance, i dont know it sure seems that they are angry at something and its coming out in their albums. Becoming Insane was a very angry track so was Deeply Disturbed and so is The Legend of Black Shawrma...they have a message which is connected through their releases...if you listen carefully to Cities of the Future, Viscious Delicious and The Legend of Black Shawrma...they seem like a trilogy...a constant message about future, past and present. they all seem to be sending some warning...i dont know...maybe i am listening too much into it..but i definitely like the illumanitish touch they have in their new avatar. There is a lot of subliminal they have been introducing...which i love...especially in Viscious, the track Artillery, the word artillery almost sounds like Hillary with their Artillery Hillery..
well maybe IM is trying to appear mystical in the mainstream...but in the downstream or underground (psytrance) they want their old fans to be angry.. their new sound seems as though they have been cheated or violated in someway....but i guess they would have the best answer for why they have chosen the style they have.

I think the message is quite clear - modern psy-trance (for ex. Dark) is the music for home listening, but not for huge parties. Vocal and live instruments are the keys to real fun for the people, so they can feel Love, Freedom and Unity, and it's even more important than psychedelia.
But, there is a big danger for an artist to fall into mainstream, when his music become popular. Doors didn't do that, but IM failed.

Doors never were a dancefloor band, , , IM are ..

and mainstream isn't bad word, maybe for undergroud psy scene ya but IM left this genre since 2004. . so stop complain ....

bottom line is that music is a matter of taste.. so u cant say it is bad music, u just dont like it. thats all           ..."Be yourself, let your conscience guide you...

Well, I have listened to it once through, and the problem I have with it is that it sounds like a caricature of the different kinds of music they try to fuse in their melting pot. Everything is so overproduced and overemphasized, it`s like those caricatures where every person has a huge head and every smile is so big and distorted that it looks like a tortured mask.

And the incredible production quality is probably the albums biggest deterrent. On the surface it sounds perfect, but it does not have any soul underneath. Just like huge silicone titties, these tracks appear firm and tight from afar, but if you touch them they are stiff and lifeless and feel like cold stones in your hands

Having lived there myself for 4 years, I can tell that this album is directly influenced by the city of Los Angeles. Loud, fake, colourful, PLAfSTIC, shiny-on-the-surface, but also lacking any soul, historic perspective, depth, feeling and emotions.
