party is like a hyooj stew... cooking up with so many herbs and spices.. and vegetables.. and meats... and gravy... lots of gravy... drugs is perhaps one of the vegetables.. and the stew is still going to be just too too tasty with or without that one vegetable... just my .02 thanks |

i used to go to parties with no drugs as a teenager. now twenty years later... i would be disappointed if there was no acid or alcohol and weed offcourse. but i go to parties like two times a year... so i like to take my acid then and other substances. and dance then some sex and dance. but good music is the base. you cant turn shitty music good even with lsd but long story short... sex drugs and rocknroll! spice up your life! |

I remember a bunch of times grinning my face off and stomping like crazy thinking 'holy crap this track is so terrible but everyone is so happy who cares lets just be happy and dance'

as much as i love the vibes of a party where a good portion of people are on mdma or lsd, i think that we would get more quality music if there were regular completely drug-free events.
but a party with no illegal drugs and levels of alcohol consumption like on non-psy parties would be horror. dancing is not fun if you constantly have to watch for people falling and vomiting on you. |

Psychedelic music is named psychedelic for a reason, it originates from the use of psychedelic substances which may not necessarily be a bad thing. Now a days I attend sober parties that are extremely similar to psy trance raves, but these are done at the meditation resort after an entire day of meditation and no drugs, the music at these parties is live catchy dance music with no vocals. |

I actually found over the least 15 odd years that it was decor & being outside more than the drugs that made Psychedellic trance good for me.
The drugs were used by me very sparingly over my life & therefore had a much more profound effect I think than using them regularly at parties. Also It made I think giving them up easier.
I don't think drugs are bad, I think like all things in life ppl need to educated & informed decisions on what they want to do whether it be drugs or anything else. It disappoints me that those in power refuse to do this.
I fail to see why our so called advanced society still great sex and drugs as so taboo? It's a part of life, it's nothing new and nothin necessarily bad.
Back on topic, I really think that if you need drugs to make your enjoyment of this scene better then maybe some time out from both to get a better perspective of it all might be needed.

Idk, I got into electronic music before I really got into weed or LSD, so there's not so much of an association between being high and enjoying the music. In fact I'd rather go to a party relatively sober, I dont like to get really fucked up in semi-public.
When I don't take anything that might keep me awake, though, I've ended up falling asleep and missing acts that I really wanted to see, but the converse is that I've also been too fucked up to enjoy them like I would have liked...
I enjoy psytrance, and most music in general, whatever state my neural chemistry is in. I've always felt that, if you think you only enjoy it high, it might mean that you only enjoy it because you're high, not because you're actually enjoying it, which is kinda like lying to yourself.
Case in point: I've enjoyed happy hardcore, but only because of all the e's I ate  (can't stand the stuff otherwise)
But my bottom line regarding drugs in general: Each of us should be free to take them if we want, when we want to, when it won't impose on others' personal comfort. But also I feel its important to be honest with yourself But also there's no problem if you only listen to psytrance/go to parties to trip. I mean, I only swing on swings when Im tripping, these days
