Just visited www.psyshop.com
and noticed a compilation named GOA.
I saw the tracklist and it contained GMS,X Dream,Spirrallianz,Yumade,Mos and many other artists.
Where do you find GOA music in all these stuff?
Are those guys there at YELLOW SUNSHINE EXPLOSION tottally stupid or do they think that we are stupid?

using the word 'GOA' and cramming it full of brand name artisits (i.e those artists who always have a cd in any TRANCE shop) - GMS, XDREAM, YUMADE - seems like an obvious 'try to make money' scheme to me..... I like to get compilation CD's with at least 50% of stuff/artists i dont know... = new music, and the label is doing it all for the right reasons..!! |

as far as i know , here in the US
trance is also house music , and techno as well,
the trance that u call it trance called here GOA TRANCE .
i went to few "trance" parties and felt realy bad for the music. |

Hey D, chill mate 
not every label has to release discs aimed at trance nutheads like us. If you ask me, this Goa comp is a pretty good mix up of this year's releases....sth I would definitly recommend for a non-freak friend who is interested in some freakish music for a change....
and same label also releasing another comp with more proggy sound, real nice artists like Molecular, Exanimo, Nasser, Bitmonx, Filur, Lish, etc etc....yeah, all released before, but so what?
open your min folks....

in Goa during Feb., didn't hear so much "GOA" trance - more prog. stuff..!!!
.... I think the term 'GOA trance' has been picked up now to mean anything with running riffs and all that.....for me...the defining point between what is 'GOA TRANCE' and what is not is:~ does the track feel like it was designed for an ACID experience, or a CHEMICAL experience? if its the latter.. it's probabally not 'GOA TRANCE'..!! (my opinion) |

yeah....point taken... different horses for different courses and all that.... (im connected to a trance label so i get the arguments 'for' and 'against' putting out albums loaded with big names.. even before they start calling it 'this' or 'that'.!!.. stick a GMS track on a compilation and the difference in sales figures... to then call it 'GOA' trance makes me wonder..!!!

Well the crystal skulls... everyone LOVES it, and you say its the most Goaish you can find these days. Well if thats what people like i dont understand why there isn't more of the goa, since a lot of people obviously like it.

Hahaha... TWO YEARS LATER and this is still so completely relevant!! YSE continues to put out Goa This and Goa That while having nothing to do with the old school style... if only that would stop who calls a totally progressive compilation "Goa X"? and now "Map of Goa"? haha... They're totally running out of ways to exploit the name.

Actually, I think the term "GOA" is used to separate our style of trance with the rest....Now under the umbrella "GOA" you will find anything that originated from our scene...This includes the originals like Total Eclipse, Etnica, Prana, Overlords, etc, as well as the different styles they've evolved into. This includes anywhere from Atmos, Beat Bizarre, etc......And although I don't agree they are the same, the term "GOA" really helped me find music I liked when I came back to the states from Japan.....In Japan, they new what I was talking about by the artists names, but when I got here they looked at me like I was nuts, until I said, "It's GOA trance".......Then they took me to a section that had all I was looking for......
THE GOA TRANCE SECTION....It was always dusty and had an older selection, but it was what I was looking for.
