i'm getting tired of watching the screen all the time + my mouse hand starts acting up!
if i'd have a hardware seq i could use it sitting or standing and the whole track writing process would be less rigid and based on a more broader combination of movements.
so it's not just a difference in workflow and inspiration but ergonomics too.
nectarios, you got a nice goa vibe going on there

Regarding acid lines I doubt it. As far as I know, you can't slide from a mute note. But I haven't looked into it to be honest. I just use Ultrabeat to make kicks and have very slightly experimented with making gated patterns on it, but at that time I downloaded the free Stormgate and never looked back for gated patterns.

ha, ofcourse doepfer have something similar to the seq12!
the schaltwerk (and the regelwerk).
http://www.doepfer.de/sw_e.htm
just d.loaded schaltwerk's manual so i can get a better impression on what i could do with it...
but it seems all hw-seqs are discontinued products and only to be found 2nd hand :/

I've always thought the future retro sequencers look amazing & also seem real user friendly. It'll probably be what I go for as my main sequencer BUT I plan to build a dedicated Make Noise modular system &!for that I'll use their Rene sequencer with the Pressure Points triggers.

Try not to look at your sequencer display while mixing; the visual stimulus interferes with your ability to make subjective judgements based only on the sound. Watching your sequencer progress through the arrange page can also give you a false impression of how well the arrangement is working, which is why some composers prefer hardware sequencers. This is the impression I get, which is probably why I am getting much better sounds out of my Virus C than I did on my TI...as well as programming other hardware synths, looking away from the screen also when listening to the arrangement. It just works for me.

for me it s the same too..less i look at the screen best it is.. use controller as much as possible with plugs..but it s not really possible to program a full synth..or it s really a pain..
first i can concentrate more on lisetning, second using 2 hands at same time i find make it better to find precise sweet spots on some stuff.. like tweaking envelop mod decay filter position on a bass.. or tweaking attack and release on comp ect...it make things much easier than just using a mouse
btw i find the maschine knobs really feel good and precise, love using it as controller |

is there anyway of getting the Maschine working in step sequencer mode to sequence midi controlled hardware?

try mux,(mutools) if your on pc
you can build your own modular vst controller
download the demo and make a virtual synth layout then disable the audio(dont need to buy the plug as demo mode gives full functionallity with audio dropout,,,,,so if you disable the audio chain in the plug you get it for free, so too speak)
hope this helps
