Detox I think you confuse the word DJ with good DJ.
In all kinds of occupations there are more proffessional performers , and less proffessional. I think that if one is DJaing in parties from time to time he can be counted as a DJ. wheather he is good or bad its another thing. if he is that bad, then I guess he wont last long as a DJ.
If I'm a waiter in a restaurant, and i'm very bad in what I do it doesnt chabge the fact that i'm still a waiter. I'll probebly get fired and than I wont be a waiter any more.           Follow the footsteps ...

Whilst it is correct for most genres of dance music, it's not wise to say that if you can't beat mix tunes or that if you play wavs/mp3s from a laptop instead of CDs, you are only good for playing music at your house.
So, if you can't beat mix through a set you are not a psy-trance DJ? Using that logic all the biggest names in psy-trance that have been playing DATs for ages, were not real DJs, just bedroom wannabe DJs that pressed play on their DATs...lol!
And about CDs...a lot of people will say that you are not a DJ unless you play vinyl...where do you draw the line? In a few years vinyl will be only a dance music collectors item and looking at mp3 sales and the things they have to offer, packing your laptop with a midi/USB X-fader controller will be the next thing to do in psy-trance.
Don't forget that laptops have disks inside too...only a little bit harder than CDs.
The term "DJ" covers a wide range of people in psy-trance.
Talk about something else, like breakbeat and you get people hassling you if you don't play vinyl, not to mention that you will not a gig on this planet if can't do something as basic as beat mixing tunes together.

Im with this one

Future is infront of us...
Indeed, in some other genres, if u talk about cds, u have ppl looking u with a very bad look... But i guess if u take a look what "well-know' dj names are doing the last 1-2 years, u'll see that vinyls are getting old fashion... Not practicle, very heavy to carry and take much more space than a cd case... I like vinyls, I even have a few...

I have to say that, if a guy in a dj-box, plays music, and the soundwaves that come to my ears are good, they contain quality, nice mixing and a good flow, personally i dont care if the guy plays with minidiscks, cd players, vinyls, labtops, or anything else...

So getting back to our subject, a greek dj is the same like another country's dj... Trax can be found anywhere... From there and on what makes a dj be better from someone else, is the selection, mixing skills, and the ability to make the crowd jump up and down...

Like I mentioned on my previous post in this thread, I personally like a few greek djs... But the 2 that I have separeted are KULU & DOC           • Noize Conspiracy Records •
