In my opinion gil must know something more than us who have never been to india,in goa to b exact.because you know he lives there and you know he is the goa full moon parties in goa and maybe as a dj he is a goa trance pionneer as he is reffered to many trance comps like "eternity" for instance.now as far as parasense(alex and zolod),he's considered as the man who brouth back the party feeling in goa,india and finally if you look all the comps that disco valley recs is throwing is full of this kind of music and also the "deliver us" comp which was compiled by Dj teo who is an established Dj in goa,india is full of KDD,fungus and freaking tracks and ...what else do you need to understand that the term "goa trance"in 2004 stands for this kind of music?

CRX goa trance wasn't named goa trance only because it started to goa.The hindu mellows,the ancient tribal fx,hindu atmosphere,hindu religion and ideologies.That things made goa trance.When the whole scene became digital and the age of productions with samples came then psy trance lost its spiritual goa touch..After that I can't say that names you mentioned are goa trance because they often play in goa.Goa is just a magic place this age.And for sure we can't tell it goa trance because Goa Gil is playing that style.
P.S. Goa Gil isn't the founder of psy-trance/goa trance.He just took "Goa" for his nickname using it espesually now for more commercial ways.I can say psychedelic/goa trance creators mr Youth(dragonfly,killing joke,LSD),Ben Watkins(Juno Reactor) these two guys released an album at 1985.The first psychedelic electronica album.Then Har-El(california sunshine),Avi Nissim&Lior Purlmuter(Astral Projection)Ian Ion(Saikopod) and of course Rajaram with Graham Wood(Infinity Project) and Eat Static,Peter(Kode IV).That's the real godfathers of psychedelic/goa trance.Goa Gil just was one of the first who made parties with entrance..He hust learn this music and he public it out of india.

I just think it is important to take into regard the fusion of goa scene with punk elements from England in 1998 or before something completely natural since this music was being played in urban environment and not only in woods and beaches.

In my opinion Psychedelic Trance as we 've kwonw it in '95, has nothing to do with now.
Take for a example, (perhaps the first psychedelic track), Stimuli - The Infinity Project and compare it with Genki - N3XU5. This music has been developed though technology. New sounds have been added but the style changed too.
Psychedelic trance started with feelings, nice feelings, joy, happiness, ecstasy (not the drug)and everyone in a party felt like he was in big company. Nowdays everything goes quicker, harder and so the music. It's become faster, spooky but with new sounds that goes us crazy and dance a lot. The feelings are gone.
But I believe the style should not been called Psychedelic Trance anymore. The Psychedelia has been lost.
Which track make you shiver and scream from happiness and ecstasy? Like tracks as Mahadeva - Astral Projection, Starship 101 - Etnica, Lepton Head - Shakta, Liquid Troll - Chakra & Edi Mis and so many more did.
But this is the evolution. The music should go and been experiment with new technology, because it depands on it.
And where are the party that make this music alive.The Open Party. Psychedelic Trance is not for a club, but near nature. The only party I enjoy anymore are by Natural High. This man definately stands for this scene.
I stand for this scene because I love it. The dance, the music, the energy and I wish for the best. I hope one day all of us get gathered at Syntagma and show what partying is for sure. |
