Gathering the Tribe is a unique blend of new world grooves that explores uncharted horizons within the Californian / West Coast festival sound. With a focus firmly on female vocals, live drums and natural instrumentation, this compilation is a stunning musical bridge where the realms of acoustic and electronic sound weave together for maximum listening pleasure.

3. Hamsa Lila, Oshun (Extended Remix)
4. Kaya Project, La Bomba!

7. Adham Shaikh, Marmalade Sun
8. Abassi All Stars, See Them a Come
9. Bassnectar, Dubuasca
10. Hamsa Lila, Aurora
11. Gus Till, River of Air

Yes - Neil Perch... one of the best dub/roots dj's i've ever heard, all round excellent guy and most amazing live mixer... very quick and smooth on the board.

this track has a positive message...

I was very disapointed in this album, from the press release blurb, it sounded right up my street, I got into electronic music through listening to pioneering bands from the English festival scene who fused live instruments with electronia, I owe a lot to people like Tribal Drift and Loop Guru. but gathering of the tribes was the soundtrack to a festival I just wouldn't want to go to, there's only one track I'd want to play to anyone, the Alex Theory track, of the others most are bad jazz and the track that was originally on the deep root label (Zion train) is just unlistenable.

hey.... i like jazz... but i really dunno if any of the tracks on the album are jazz, [ good or bad... ].

jazz to me suggests dbl bass, brush drums, horns, jazz chords, solos, freeform - and best performed live.

tribal drift and loop guru were amazing indeed... but that is a very UK centric sound, and also a dated one. still - a very influential and identifiable sound - that inspired me too when i was starting the label
sam from loop guru sent us his new material for this release, and it is interesting, but has moved on quite a bit from the loop guru sounds. check his label elsewhen.

this comp reflects some of what is now going on - particularly on the west coast in n america.

at most of these festivals, which are at a safe distance from UK, the music is not exclusively psy trance and psy chill... strange and repugnant to some, manna for others.

Definetly south america have a different chill out culture when it comes to styles played @ the chill out space.

Respect for knowing and showing that. : )

anyway, missed a track on that comp from some brazilian chill artist. there are many nice acts popping (Liquidus Ambientus, Drifter, Fly In, Cine Mad in Chaos, Trotter), not to mention the well known guys from Pedra Branca and a bunch of nice Dub acts (ch5, digital dubs, traidores da babilonia, echo sound system) that try to incorporate local culture with heavy bass vibes.
