Hi,
the roots of the album come from a more rainbow approach, thus the live/acoustic elements.

I don't really perceive there as being jazz influences, unless that is how you define all non-psy, live sounding music. I think what you are referring to is the Jamband influence that can be heard in some of the bands.

My personal breakdown of the compilation is thus:

“Gathering the Tribe” track list:

1. Antonio Testa, “Pachamama”:
deep, epic chill

2. Alex Theory, Lotus Kiss:
ethno acoustic indo groove with a slightly jazzy touch

3. Hamsa Lila, Oshun (Extended Remix):
live ethno groove with sweet vocals, sweet flute, and a tripped out extended section

4. Kaya Project, La Bomba!:
latin carnival style with an acoustic guitar riff somewhat like Dorset Perceptions

5. Spiral System, Elephant: fantastic road trip track with gorgeous indo vocals, and a summer, slightly pop feel

6. Tina Malia, Sarva Mangala:
deep indo acoustic sacred vocal music with kalimba

7. Adham Shaikh, Marmalade Sun:
tribal morning grooves

8. Abassi All Stars, See Them a Come:
dub with a positive message

9. Bassnectar, Dubuasca: tripped out psy ambient with sacred shamanic vocals

10. Hamsa Lila, Aurora:
live track, downtempo, ethno, jamband, and shamanic and socially conscious lyrics

11. Gus Till, River of Air: gorgeous ethno ambient with a healing vibe

12. Kin Ship, Madre Dee Vine:
very trippy and yet sweet ambient with a native American touch on the vocals (kind of like a gentle Hallucinogen in Dub)

I think it's a nice album for roadtrips, or for anyone who has an open mind for good music, and is curious to discover a sound that might not be familiar to them (west coast, north american festival live stage sound).

If you are only interested in purely electronic sounds, or very pumping tribal electronica fusion (tribal dift, ganga giri, etc.), I can understand that this might not be the cd for you. However, if you you're open to discovering new forms, and enjoy vocals, then i don't really see how you could go wrong...

Punkah: I totally agree with you, and in fact I worked hard with Pedra Branca to remix a track for the comp, and it almost happened. It just didn't fit the flow in the end... hopefully next time!

The Abassi All Star track is a classic riddim? the voice remind me something & the stuff look like Groundation.

I realy like :
Antonio Testa, the 2 Hamsa Lila tracks, Kaya Project, Kinship, Guss Till.

Big respect and thanks to Interchill for releasing another great compilation - one of the only labels that keep me on my toes!!! - never knowing what to expect next..... its wicked that the label is brave enough to explore diferent genres of music and concepts but still present them with an overall distinctive label sound....looking forward to future releases...

at most of these festivals, which are at a safe distance from UK, the music is not exclusively psy trance and psy chill... strange and repugnant to some, manna for others.

Most, if not all, festivals in the UK are pretty mixed - its more the European thing to have straight psy trnace/chill.

Anyway... I look forward to hearing the CD as I quite like lot of stuff Cosmo describes as "bad jazz"!!

I was a bit surprise in the beginning by this release, because this is not my usual cup of chai, being more into the atmospheric stuff, or downbeat kind of vibe.

I found this V/A very refreshing on the long run, with more familiar dub territories towards the end, and a nice change of air with latina-influenced tracks and vocals. It's good to change!!

Thanks Neerav for renewing my ears on this one           V/A Floating Mirror - OUT NOW - with Celles, Midimal, Electrypnose, Melodix, Troll Scientists, Yab Yum, Gaspard, Ajja, Cradle of Beats! Info on

personal favourites: Alex Theory on the ethnic downbeat side. Spiral system in a smooth song style (trip hop like). Abassi all stars for the amazing dub, second hamsa lila song (love the bass!), and Kin Ship for beautiful and deep vibe.

That's definitely worth the acquisition! Way to go Interchill!           V/A Floating Mirror - OUT NOW - with Celles, Midimal, Electrypnose, Melodix, Troll Scientists, Yab Yum, Gaspard, Ajja, Cradle of Beats! Info on

Well thanks for all the positive vibes and lovely feedback! I'm very glad that so many of you are open to new fresh sounds

Andrew has suggested to me that i not be too attached to feedback (good or bad). I have to admit, the positive feedback is a lot easier to take, but I understand all points of view.

I listened to it when I woke up today before heading out to work. It was raining, and I was still sleepy; I started the cd at the 2nd Hamsa Lila track ("Aurora") and let it play through on auto loop. I found it gently woke me up and put me in a good, sunny mood despite the weather.

By the time the Spiral System track ("Elephant") had ended, i was ready to rock it at work...

My only regret for this cd is that i didn't make space for a really nice deep, pumping tribal track that would have prolonged the peak of the cd.

Other than that, I'm satisfied with the results and feel it's a nice cd for listening in various contexts, and gentle tribal grooving...

Cosmonaughty: my ambient dj sets are much more tribal pumpin'. If you write to me at:
neerav@interchill.com
and send me your address, i'll send you a mix or a home made comp that will hopefully put a smile on your face

Djomshanti (amazing psy ambient dj btw): i'll have your cd this weekend...

have a great summer everyone!

I got around to getting this album last week and its far better than I was expecting - some great tracks - I particularly enjoyed the Adham Shaikh african track - I play a fair bit of african funk stuff when I'm playing upbeat sets - so always like to hear someone combine african influences in a chill tune.

So good work in putting it together Neerav- an excellent comp.
