No, that wasnt a trolling attempt, but this has been asked so often recently that you should find lots and lots of information about this in recent threads. (especially about monitors+headphones)

And the final descision should still be made by you, after you testet the stuff.
No one can choose a synth or a midi controller for you, because only you can decide which works best for you. which sounds good to your ears and can be played well by your fingers.
I would say buy yourself a moog and a novation midi controller, because I like them, but it could be that you think they suck...so choose wisely by yourself

OP; You don't mention what sound card/DAC you are using.

The better monitors you have, the better room treatment you have, the more you will appreciate this part of the monitoring chain.
