i dont think being into psy trance necessarily means that you have to do drugs. i fucking hope not, that would be sending a pretty fucked up message to onlookers, newcomers and critics

gaspard i fockincumpleetelyekstreemtottallll agreee with you, seeems most of us don't realize we're living in a sociaty that condamns some things

did you ever ask yourself why all fucking discos go on with no problem with all their problems of misuse of drugs, often violence (at least drastically more than in the psy scene), alcohol abuse by people that will be obviously going back home driving?????!!!?
on the other side to obtain a permit for a goa party is getting day by day harder, did you ask yourself why when people hear(authorities)"goa-party" they don't think peaceful people passionate by music that make huge efforts to create a magical deco and ambientation, no they think a bunch of fucking drug users, and for the public opinion drug users are not peaceful people passionate by music that make huge efforts to create a magical deco and ambientation, they're a menace a danger and have to be treated as criminals, did you ask ever yourself what are we doing wrong??!?

man it's called public relation, and doesn't work fine if we keep on screaming all the way........ (he who understands needs not many words)

@dymons: and about the question that drugs may be a consistent and indeniable part of the psychedelic experience:
i've read in a shamanic meditation book that the use of drugs to achieve artificially induced states of different consciousness/perception is like a shortcut that is not recommendable since it indicates a lack of concentration and committment from the individual that has to be compensated by means of a substance to achieve a state wich is similar but not the same as a true real state of different consciousness, in other words is like taking a journey on space without beeing totally prepared for it. we gotta work ourselves on our chakras or energetical configuration and not delegate this job to a substance that we will never be able to control 100%

this is the point of view of a person with great experience about so called different states of awareness, i agree fully with, but i also still smoke cigarettes even though i find it stupid .....

not sure of the precise definition but my idea of it definitely does not include 16 year old e-tards gurning on the dancefloor, corporate sponsorship, and especially not making this scene juste another consumer good, which is what i m witnissing these days...

it comes from greek:
psyche: the soul, the mind;
delos: to show, to reveal.

Hence, can be called psychedelic anything that reveals the spiritual essence of things that is usually hidden.

My understanding is that it includes modified states of awareness, LSD, magic Mushroom, MDMA (which is an exploration of the feelings), meditation, concentration, twisted music, yoga, fractal drawnings, some kind of poetries and visual arts, anything trippy, and to sum it up:

psychedelism is a whole culture!!!

drugs are part of this culture. But it's only a part of it, and not the whole of it!

I guyz... long and very interesting topic:

let me add my 2 cents ;-)

Why do we need to be for or against big and/or small parties? I don't understand... It's like you were saying: yeah, Boom has the "right" to exist as a big festival, but this one not (let's take this year's Omni as example ;-), etc... On this, I am quite thinking like slim... Just let it be, you like to have thousands of KW of sound and int'l artists? fine. You like small gatherings with a friendship feeling? fine as well. Psy culture is also about tolerance, no?

I've been part of the organization of legal and illegal parties and it is true that throwing legal gigs is annoying... but as one previously said: it is also about selling it the right way to the authorities )

Concerning this new law (back 2 basic topic), I also heard such stuff, which is quite annoying, not only for the psy scene, but for all scenes in general. There are other outdoor events or festivals finishing later than 04.00...

Nothing to say on drugs...

To all readers of this thread, i advice you check this one. It was started by Talamasca under the name 'you can make psytrance bigger!!!!' and it's very relevant to the discussion we're having here. here's the link:

basically, yes, small parties are great, big festivals can be fun too, if thrown in the right spirit!

Peace
