Hmm ... that's true, but I have seldom seen an album entirely devoted to drugs in another scene than ours. (1200 Mics anyone?)           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

I like samples that talk about UFOs, they are very trippy and don't have to do with drugs.

And who cares what mainstream media thinks about the scene? Do you actually want to be 'approved' by them?

but yes, excessive use of drug sample is just plain cheesy.

true maybe, but what about the countless movies about the subject? Fear and loathing, human traffic, blow, grass, trainspotting, the list goes on and on... and these are mainstream targetted movies that are pretty popular (and most of the samples we hear actually come from these movies) but that doesn't mean the movies have any link with psytrance.. Do these influence people into doing drugs? maybe, but i wouldn't be to keen on trying stuff that makes a typewriter chance into a giant bug.           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. what sumone said "they encourage kids to try out drugs" is absolutely true........these small kids think its cool to try out drugs because the track influences them

so on the drug sample subject then ... well for me there are some well used ones and many are badly used ones ... it is just so clear what purpose they are used for today.

to PKS: it's not the humour that's low ... only the entry level for kiddie excursions in the land of psychedelic experience.

samples of different drugs in the cd case sounds like a great idea.....can't download that...might be the missing link to all these 'how do we get more sales' questions......just tear off the lower right 1/8" of the cd cover......!

'this album, it's really an experience man...'

it's funny, just today i was listening to the new alien project cd and treck thre is called "who has the marijuana". i was thinking the same thing, there are so many amazing samples from different movies and all kinds of things and our scene continuesly uses drug samples in way's that have no added effect to the treck. it's as if the artist wants everyone to know what a stoner he is so he samples drug lines on and on. i agree this should stop for all the reasons mentioned above. a friend of mine once sampled the gun shot from the beginning of pulp fiction, that literally made the treck from ok to amazing, i haven't heard a drug line do that....

i personally feel that there is actually nothing wrong with the use of drug samples ...... coz about drugs there is one thing true that the one who wants to do it will do it so songs/tracks cannot influence ppl to use or abuse drugs .

BUT at the same time i detest hearing too much of drug sample at points where its not so required .

So use of drug S as in tracks or otherwise doesnt harm but Abuse of the same in both cases is bad . drug abuse is bad

In my opinion there is no problem using drug samples in the music because drugs have a big association with our scene

drugs do have a big association with our scene but dont u want to change this perception of society....do u want newcomers in the scene to enter the scene by taking drugs....do u want people who join the scene for the drugs and not the music
by saying such things we project wrong ideas of our scene onto people who look upon us as a bunch of druggies

also drugs are only way to enhance the experience of a rave they are not the experience !!!!!!!!!

imho the artists should use drug samples sparingly, only if they are gnna enhance the track and not just shove in drug samples to generate CD sales

bOm shiva!!!!

Drug samples suck !!!! They DO encourage kids to do them, about this there is no doubt. let me try to explain Y......

In my last sem in college, i took a class on the psychology of advertising. My prof, for this master's thesis had analyzed the federal govt's anti-drug/drug awareness Television campaign to gauge its (in)effectiveness.
After a detailed study involving more than 5000 people... his findings revealed=

kids who watched TV with these awareness/prevention ads were MORE likely to try drugs in the first place than those who had watched TV without these ads...... !~!~!~!~!

Its kinda like the old showbiz addage- no publicity is bad publicity.... the more we/the music talks abt drugs.... the more people hear abt them and (thru a network of other circumstances) end up using them.

Having said this...... there are some drug samples that ARE well used.... "They took me to the hotel.... they gave me the....." (^_^)

shit the first time i heard that there was no way in hell it made me WANT to try acid !!

Also, and i know i'm gonna get flak fr this, but imagine u were on X and u heard that Skazi track Xtc..... at first u'd get all into it when he loops 'XTC..... XTC..... XTC.....'

.....BUT if u manage to keep ur head in the muic fr a little longer.... the sample comes back with a rude awakening fr u in the middle of ur roll:

"Extasy not safe anymore...."

I'm saying this out of personal experience.... that makes u think long and hard abt ur next E !
I hate the drug now.... (not becoz of the track) but those words definately helped me break out of my X-honeymoon.... Thanks fr that Skazi !

that's it
