wars used to control human population. But since human developed nukes, total wars lost sense.

So, back in to the topic. there are a lot of things we can do do help not harming earth. And we dont need to be greenpeace activist to do so.

For example there this great idea:

Place one litre bottle on your toilet deposit, this way you will save one litre, pretty easy no? now go and force every neighbor, friend and relatives to do it.

It's the go force bit that don't work for me. People telling others how to live. Just never going to work.

If you look at the hippie movement, it's had quite a few decades now to make a difference to the world and it just hasn't. Surely it is time to start looking at things differently.

go back and observe once more and think if it has not made a difference. maybe the ideal to change the whole system has failed but saying it has not made a difference is just ignorent bro. of course look for different sollutions and be innovative but respect what people put their lifes into.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

The next world war will be for the water...

Whatever provides water preservation is surely vital!

Also whatever provides plant preservation is also vital!

REPLANT is my favorite and smartest idea...!

It really does but then there is no point in stating "...i follow no one nor do i want to lead anyone...do what u want dont impose it on others ". Right?

Destroying something you share with the rest is very much imposing and "leaders know best" attitude....IMO!!!!

no man,
civil liberties, environmental activism and shift in consciousness, a revolution in music. a bridge between east and west. a protest against the war which started with vietnam, peace movements, anti materialism, anti consumption, women rights, gay rights, human rights, massive amounts of innovative art. I can go on you know.

go look into the 50s and early 60's and see if theres a difference.
what are you 15 or smtg or just ignorent and trying be a smartass. people stood for what they believed in back then ya know? lame.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

31 and I won't rise to your insults.

Through out history there have been groups of people who have stood up for what they believed in. The hippie movement didn't bring us that. Theres always been a ying for the yang. The hippies just stole ideas from other cultures and pasted them together to create a mirage to hide behind so they could just get shit faced. Really enlightening

hmm.... The hippie movement was one of the first cross cultural movements in which a single particular goal was in mind. Of course there's been many groups individually that stood up for a particular idea, but in a place where the economic, cultural, and social backgrounds were as diversified as it was in the United States after the 1950's the counterculture movement that happened was very very pivotal in a lot of other movements as well. The Civil Rights movement both in a sense was helped and hindered by the psychedelic revolution, and there were lots of hippies that were all about the equality. For some minority groups, it was hard to understand that Hippies, comprised of what was considered the embodiment of oppression, had a different viewpoint that what the establishment did. So therefore many times hippies weren't taken seriously in their efforts to help all communities. Also, the hippie movement helped establish and idea of community that extended beyond your ethnic background. They helped foster communities based on a common ideal. In a sense, that's what I feel is a common occurrence in the psychedelic trance scene in many places.

Not to mention, like it or not... hippies have left their mark on society. I've lived in San Francisco for a while and it still surprises me to see some of the more progressive ideas that come out from there, and it's more inspiring to see some of those ideas turn up in other places.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Its just hippies were here and there and everywhere and in the end as a mass it didnt come to nothing its own right.

But it wasnt a total failure, finally a lot of cool people and cool ideas really grow after the hippie movement and formed some things like Greenpeace, etc.

I think in general we have a hippie heritage thats worth to preserve, specially the openess but we must also learn from their mistakes and be more pragmatic if we intend to make a change.

Be more presentable. Present yourselves respectfully to those you want to impress your ideas upon. Trying to teach my teenage kids that.

Hang on to selflessness (no pun intended).
