even though i dont like much domestics music (its too soft for my taste) i respect a lot his super production! what tips here!!!! he definately made me UNINSTALL the waves bundle. i've cheked this URS and wow!!!!!!! another story. profesional looking and sounding. what i love is that domestic uses Logic Audio obviously and he is very correct on telling that the ES1 is great stable synth for fat bass. kiks also.
TIPS that worth GOLD
Thanks to the Master!

Great to hear such a detailed response from such a long-established and respected artist! Thank you Ido.

its very importnat to use good eqs such as urs eqs, hydratone , uad pultec and voxengo gliss eq.
dont use the crappy waves:) sorry waves
try to use voxengo as a surgery eq for small q's and for a specific frequency fix,
and eq's like uad pultec and urs for boosting frequencies that u like at the original source and wanna make it warmer, 100hz and 60hz usually sound very good for this kind of process.

I just discovered Voxengo recently. It looks like a very cool company with an interesting variety of very specific plugins. And their stuff is actually affordable unlike Waves.

voxengo are jsut great.. but i found some disturbing things with them.. first their interface eats too much cpu.. i mean i cannot put more than 4 eqs in a project and my pc is good enough. also some of their plugins, especially those for bass boosting have awful latency even if i have my asio with m-audio. if somebody knows how to fix this problems??? i mean i dont have any latency with other plugins, but with voxengo yes.. why is this..

Voxengo ROCKS! The Elephant is a much better limiter than Waves L2 for instance (sounds better and measures cleaner). Their R8Brain sample rate converter is up there with the very very best. (Weiss Saracon at 1600 Euro). The R8Brain free version is downloadable from their site and is great for anything but pure audiophile accoustic recordings.
HarmoniEQ can add sparkle to sounds without making things sharp and ugly. The dynamic EQ can shape stuff without making a mix too dense and cluttered.
Voxengo Warmifier is very nice for adding "analogue warmth" (tube emulation plugin).
The CurveEQ you mention above is very good for surgical work. Soniformer is a true audio swiss knife. EXTREMELY powerfull. Be carefull with it.
The Pristine Space convolution reverb is also very nice.
Well the list goes on and on ... they have a ton of good stuff and for a ridiculously affordable price.

some tips for compression:
check your inputs
check your bass level and then use the gain reduction
always look on the VU mater
lets say your bass is -10db so set the threshhold to 14,15. or till its sounds good
|
|
thanks for the tips Adrenal Mode ,is it better to just compress a bit and they do it fine during mastering ,or it should be like a realesed track during the mixing stage?(for full on style ) |

PoM - i wouldn´t compress too much, casue like you say you can treat your lowend when you premaster the track, many cases it will sound too compressed if you already have used alot of compression.. it depends on how lively or not you want it it be.
a multiband compressor on the masterout will get you tight lowend if you find the right settings

Ido... it's never too long when a Sound-Genius such as you are writes about his techniques.. You could write a whole book, I'd be one of the first ones to buy and read it, I'd probably even learn it by heart.. ¦oP
Thanks a lot!!
By the way; Your (& Astrix's) Bass in "Solaris P.II" is one of my very very favourites!
(Needless to say something like "keep up the good work", cause that you will anyway)..

es m is tottaly wrong to use as bass line gear...ear the envelope singing my children, ear it "wisely".just a tip.
that consistency u speak well, it comes from a nice Env modulation...like try linking Cut off to Env and ull will not loose any FATNESS

hmm both esm and es1 are amazing bassline synths, my favs in the plugin domain. if the envelopes click for you then work it more with the cut, amount and decay knobs until its perfect.

man u didnt went and ear what i was saying about es m
es 1 its stable and turning the analogue funcion off will certainly work.but believe me u can twich and tweek and do what ya want with the envelope in the esm and it will still not b stable.of course if u wanna make a nice crunchy fat bassline..if u cut the attack on the envelope it will not make the bass "punchy".and with the attack at minimum(GOod Punchy bass)it will b extremely unstable and it will "sing" by him self.but thats just es m and this is a topic about domestic bassline...
well u ROCK DUDE!!!! yea..ure almost like eskimo on basses..almost.

Huge thanks to Ido for his brilliant work. Art Making Machine kill my brain, we know about what of course. This one second full album, after Cosma -Non Stop, that have most big influence to me. Only word – just amazing.
I read post of Ido about bass, and giving mega thanks for his attention to people around.
I have one stupid, but vary important question. I try to learn exactly the same bass as Analogiz, for my taste this track is the best. Can’t understand how freq’s 80-300hz sounds so impulsive( meaning so pressure). In Quake the same, low freq 100hz don’ boost its press with middle range. I think its sounds ES-m (maybe I wrong, but vary looks like). My try’s sounds really close, but not so natural, its just have fucking boosts on sub or grinding sound in middle, and I always ask my self what’s wrong, where the energy??? I kill a lot of efforts and time, but energy don’t come, just crack of saw. I process bass with quadrafuzz(make one long channel from 0 to 7000Hrz, someone make the same?) don't touch eq at all, kill all down 30Hrz, but fuck my brain, not enough close. May be there are some procession with R-bass, but how its sounds so natural and where to sub boost freq’s going and sweet mid energy comes? So I try a lot of combinations with quadrafuzz and r-bass, put those in different connections, sound become thick and if cut all down 45hz saw still crack… Sound become vary looks like in flaming dart, vary cracking and metallic, but not so energetic like analogiz…
I know that its vary incorrect to ask such question, but I kill my brain out, to much I like those bass. Would you people please explain me how its get, probably its sounds es-m or es1, and how to process effects to sounds something like analogiz? And also I like bass in Non human, thare are 100% I hear quadrafuzz, and Quake is deep machine too.
I have a favour to ask you don’t start tell me be your self, don’t be second domestic and ect. … I want to learn how to make right sound that I like with my heart, that’s why I ask some of you, because a lot of people understand what I talking about, and as see Ido also understand.
Thanks if your read till this… )))
………..Domestic…. rocks………
