well i've been checking domestic's new album (one of my favorite from this year) and it's sound quality is just amazing (of course, it's domestic hehe).

there's one thing that makes me mad is how he changes bassnotes and uses high notes (i mean in pitch of course) and the bass doesn't loose it's low end. it's so tight, powerful and FAT.

i wonder what does he uses for his bass and\or how does him process it? i guess it's multiband compression tweaked to the slightest detail.

a good example is Flaming Dart from this album (with X-Noise).

so i repeat, i don't want to sound like domestic, but i want to use high pitched notes (not too high of course) without loosing the groove.           Pyrex :: Traveling without moving

i don t know the album but synth with good oscillators like the es1 and esm don t loose power with note one octave up and don t jump in volume too .

Theres a bit of hardware I've seen that adds 'punch' exactly 1 octave below whatever note you feed into it.

Not sure how useful that would be, if at all. Maybe its a hardware thing, maybe he eq's every note right and samples them.

duplicate the bass line keeping one line in the original key and the other one pitched up of 12 semitones.

Add a sine sub whenever you go one octave up.

es m is tottaly wrong to use as bass line gear...ear the envelope singing my children, ear it "wisely".just a tip.
that consistency u speak well, it comes from a nice Env modulation...like try linking Cut off to Env and ull will not loose any FATNESS

Listen to Blizzard!

i know a plug in Protools that is a simple sinewave generator(i think it supports the classic waveforms)

and with this plug you can dial in the frequency and use it to fill sounds(layer)

i wish to find one of those plugs as Vst with good quality.. anyone knows anything about it?

yep, its best advised to sample alot of notes on the esm and make a sample pack with the nicest sounding envelopes...

Freeflow: I think you are looking for mda SubSynth

http://www.dynamiclink.nl/htmfiles/rframes/info_dll/info_m/459.htm

But you get more precise control by using a nice sine wave in a sampler.

yeah enevlopes can do magic, sometimes just adjusting the cutoff will make it sound more solid when you go up in tone... not so bright, though the problem remains that when you change note you change frequency.. try finding the right tones...

sometimes you got to compromise, or do stuff differently...

also keytracking is one parameter to check out..

Thanks Blizz! i think i tried that one and wasnt too happy about it, ill do like you say and try a sine in a sampler, do you think i should do the sinewave with a nice sounding synth instead of a plug like that?

Well, you have control over velocity, pitch, notelength, envelopes etc with a synth/sampler.

A plugin like sub synth will just try to track the pitch and might fail and will have a little delay before it triggers the sound (it needs a few wave cycles to determine the pitch).

thats true, i think i forgot that i have the tone generator just infront of me...

ill experiment some.
i think its time to update my knowledge more, time to dig deep in the books and start to improve more
