found this query on the physics forum
wanted to reply but didnt know what to say
"Hi,
I listen trance music for a long time and I was an average student i got 45% in high school and after that started listensing trance music . U wont believe it i did very well i got honors in engineering and then did masters with honors and currently doing Phd in Aeronautical engg. . Whenever i used to study i used to have trance music on and i dont know i used to concentarte more while listening trance beats music and i am very motivating type of person . I started listening when i was 18 and now i am 27 . At 18 i was not confident and shy , had complex , but know i feel i am the best . So iguess trance beats is the best to get motivated and rise in life i guess.

Do any of you had also the same experiences ?

Take Care,

Anjum"

He feels he's the best ?

Good for him... But he's not..

And after 9 years I find pretty normal (and reassuring) that he changed a little bit..

So, NO, Trance doesn't increase memory.. maybe fun, but not memory, c'me on !           .

^^ it isn´t the music..maybe some psychedelics that have changed his way of thinking?

maybe experiencing many things in life can open your eyes - not by all means it ows to trance - but experience life itself           ...

I dunno about this kid being the best, but I feel that listening to psytrance does seem to get my science juices flowing. Especially stuff that is very hard and driving, but sharp and precise sounding. The recent Highcosmos album is exemplary of the kind of stuff I like to listen to when contemplating science.

I dont think the idea is so farfetched, it seems likely to me that music could enhance brain function.

That's total bullshit. If a person is dumb he doesn't get any smarter listening to music. If a person is smart he won't get any dumber listening to music. Music is music. It can be stimulating for your brain but you won't get smarter or dumber.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. i wouldnt dismiss this theory...

when i started listening to goatrance i had a hard time interpret the music, it was complex and sometimes annoying to listen to.. but it grew on me and i started to understand and hear the sounds.

lets compare it to juggle, in the begining you cant get those 3 balls to flow, but as you practise you will..

what have happend to the brain, did it not get smarter in a sense?

i would say the same with music..
and if your brain learn how to handle more info, in terms of sounds, maybe it also stimulates the memory of words and numbers...

i dunno... but it could make sense.

Acidhive - im not sure i agree,
if you listen to music while you study i think its important that it stimulates you in a inspirational way.. i mean if it distracts you from your studying it will make you dumb.. hehe...

hey man u deeply underestimate the power of music!!

it is scientificaly proven that mozarts music makes people smarter by increasing their learning abilities, because it enhances alpha waves in the brain... read some neuropsychology.. this is almost everywhere. i myself did some studies measuring electroencephalograph EEG waves on subjects listening to psytrance. and guess what: it also enhances alpha waves as well as thetha.thetha waves are associated with learning, meditation and LEARNING so i woulnt call it "total bullshit" . just because u use it to trip out it doesnt mean it may have other aplicattions.im not saying that ull listen to commercial hippies and bam ure a genius, the brain is way more complex than that. but these things have direct relationship and significant influence. and by the way i am a neuropsychologist, my degree thesis is on the effects of psytrance on the EEG. i can give u the link to the study , but is all in spanish... a little science isnt bad folks!          www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

Just stimulating the brain alone is enough to make you smarter. Very well established by science, in both animals and in humans.

@PiXan- Please do post the link, so what if es en español. Thats what Babelfish is for, right?

Well, if it's scientifically founded, let's see the facts then. And I mean real numbers, percentages, statistics, and not just lame words. Anyone can say what they like and pretend it's scientifically founded. So ... links please! And not in spanish... plain english will do fine.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

to Psycosmo - Highcosmos album is really hard to listen at home and with studies wei, sure it doesn't fit for everybody, for me I can't listen to anything while studying, but it sounds reasonable that it helps your brain if you practice and listen to psy in years and do more actions while listening to music, and yes it could make sense, everything is possible and could make sense, show us some facts first.
and for Xolve - which kind of trance was it ? share it with us maybe ill get better grades
