if u in doubt neville, go to the closest female's toilet look at yourself in the mirror, put your little finger in the nose and shout....I AM NOT CRAZY YET! 3 times.

if it doesnt work, read traveller's post again, and repeat the above (with a hat on your head)

oh, and NO, artist do not have to, or rather cant make amazing music forever.main reasons:
1. they get old and die eventually
2. 'amazing' is rather subjective...may sound amazing to me but horrible to jeremy....whos wining then?
3. we (listeners) get old and change our music taste...same goes for artists
          Why u little !!!

To the original question from Surrender.
I do think artists should put their 6 senses when making music. They should reach a level of satisfaction and completion when they finish a track. Sometimes they will not be inspired... It all boils down to the same old story. They need to make money, they have to fulfill quotas and sometimes music is released for the wrong reasons... usually money. So IMHO artists should make the best for themselves. They should pursue a constant sense of improvement, explore new sounds and experiement. This is how it all started and that is why we are still dancing, because of the inspiration carried from that initial time when money was secondary and the creative experience was first.

If an artist is not inspire to do music anymore, it is a matter of soul searching to find inspiration somewhere else. Life is full of change.

I do believe it is not the artists duty to please us all, but to express themselves and achieve a sense of enlightment through their work. Then, that sense of enlightment will be communicated to us. And we will keep on dancing to these masterpieces. It just happens naturally.

Is it ok just to make music because you like to make it without getting too enlightened?

But i was suggesting that maybe there is much more to come from the 'creativity' well.

-----------------------------------------
Ok I got what u mean.
But I was reffering to the fact that for artists who have been producing music for such a long time it's not easy for them to come up with new ideas (not easy & not impossible offcourse).Actually I beilive that it's easier for the new artists to come up with new ideas than the older ones. The difference in my opinion is that if a veteran artist come up with a new idea it's easy for him to produce but if a new one comes up with a new idea offcourse it's much more difficult to produce.I have loads of new ideas but I did not yet reach the point where I can produce whatever comes to mind

Well that is a case of practice then i guess. If im good with equipment i should have less trouble making those ideas in sounds and tracks.
But yes, I also agree that a clean uncluttered mind can produce some great fresh sounds.

@andrejcid

I also agree with what was said by andrejcid, that we also chaneg our style sof listening as we grow., so why not the artist. Personally i wish they cud just produce old school goa instead of some of the stuff nowadays.

Lets hope the new transwave album wont be frighful full-on

well an artist is one who makes music..and prefferably good music...

an artist can make music...and sometimes goof up by giving out some low quality stuff...

but a great artist is one who can make music..and when he makes sad quality music he immedietly thinks to himself and say "wait a minute this is not what i am capable of...i can do much more" and then he comes back with some really good stuff...and doesnt just sit back and bank on his credentials to take him to the bank!

thats when u can spot an ordinary artist and a great artist!!!

so the question does every artist have to make amazing music forever....

CERTAINLY NOT....

cmon artists are human too...sometimes they perceive the music to be good...which really mite not be all that good...its upto us listeners to decide what is good and what is not..and based on our opinions..the artists actually get to know whether they have made a blaster or a blunder..

jes my 2 cents

Handa,
Making music for the sake of making music is the inspirational moment. I am sure once you make music you want to make it better.
