such as what? the wrong reasons for you may well be the right reasons for them...           Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

A great artist for me is someone that gave me one piece of art that TRULY touched me. That is more than enough.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

But i was suggesting that maybe there is much more to come from the 'creativity' well.

Ok I got what u mean.
But I was reffering to the fact that for artists who have been producing music for such a long time it's not easy for them to come up with new ideas (not easy & not impossible offcourse).Actually I beilive that it's easier for the new artists to come up with new ideas than the older ones. The difference in my opinion is that if a veteran artist come up with a new idea it's easy for him to produce but if a new one comes up with a new idea offcourse it's much more difficult to produce.I have loads of new ideas but I did not yet reach the point where I can produce whatever comes to mind

Well the artist can do whatever he/she/them want/s but imo the labels are responsible to filter out the crap and it's shameful to sell music with just the brand/name

I also agree with that. The topic which traveller posted is not a negative one but the opposite.I wouldn't mind at all having my name mentioned in that topic cause I would know that ppl.find potential in me but
there is always room for improvment. We should have named the topic "Suggestions for srtists".
Apart from that, the posts that ppl.are posting in that topic are very mature.Probably one of the most mature topic in my opinion

I got no problem with artists developing their style for the better. I do have a problem with artists who take 5 steps back instead.

Sometimes, you have to go back first in order to eventually go forward.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Not ride the negativity ship but I think the same applies to DJs. I've seen humble DJs start out playing some amazing sets... and then after some time when people having been cheering them so much they get egos and change the style they play (usually to full on). For example, they start out as great progressive djs, creating incredible places to travel, then they become popular and start playing cheesy full on cos they like to see people's hands go up in the air and shout their name.

But I can't deglect to say that there are those who turn around again and take all this experience in, and put all the ego aside and become well rounded, humble DJs and to those I give my praise and respect.

right!!! seen it happen many times!
and have to agree with Furthur....if an artists created a peice of music that really mooved me...i thank him and cherish the moments...if he changes...well....good luck mate!
Cheers.

i think alot of this though isnt really taking steps back on purpose, its more they had taken things as far as they could so not knowing where else to go they make stuff to sell albums.
How could GMS go beyond the Growly Family, especially when you compare it to how different it sounded from anything else at the time. Im sure they know it would be impossible to do something that original compared to todays sounds so they just go with the flow so to speak.

It depends mate!
If one produces old style goa trance with today's equipment and knowledge that would be excellent and offcourse you can't just produce old style goa cause one has to evolve so the best thing would be to go back 5 or 6 years and advance at the same time!

(That is what I'm trying to do)

The problem is that, yes the style has changed and I can accept that but the feeling of pure Goa has disappeared so that makes no sense to me!(Offcourse not all artists)

Ever heard about the term "artistic freedom"?

A lot of people here judge the artists and say that they make music just to make money etc etc. Has it ever occured to any of you that people are individual and that people have different taste? Just because an artists make a certain style that you dont like is not immediately the final evidence that he/she is out to milk the cow. I doubt most artists say "hey I want to make this music so I can become rich". And believe me they will knwo very soon that it's damn hard to get rich from this music. So if they were only in for the money then why do they keep releasing music?

Most people start because they love the music and feel the need to express themselves through music. Some have a talent - some dont!

I agree with Traveller. The ones to make sure that quality is released instead of quantity are the labels.

You can hardly blame a person for not having a talent or for making a certain style of music. Of course this scene would benefit greatly if some so-called artists realised that they are NOT the next big thing and that they should go back to School and finish their education.

But again if the labels would stop releasing every track they get their hands on the situation would be very different. And for the better!

Wise words Handa & Traveller

But still let us say that an artist have been working fulltime in the scene and suddenly the scene chages like it did!

And let us say that if they keep on producing a 100% non dairy product they wouldn't play as much as the other artists are and therefore make less money and if they make less money they might end up changing their job from Fulltime producer to a waiter in a restaurant for instance!!!
What would you do?

As I said in some previous posts I do not blame the artists for what they do or why cause at the end of the day it is not my business.

On the other hand I agree with both HANDA & TRAVELLER RE:the record junk yards (labels).
ans also I would blame a couple of party organizers too for booking commercial artists in what is suppose to be a Psychedelic trance festival just to attract more simple minds & make more (or enough) money.
