Hey TiMMY i am also thinking of getting proffesional ones too. Theres a company in the US ( http://www.etymotic.com/ ) that makes custom earplugs that can reduce the sound up to 25 dB!!!
I also use earplugs at parties *ALL* the time.. hehe

I have some Tinitus.. It's not to an extend where it's a problem.. But I am sure aware of that it could be in the future...

Anyone with tinnitus you really have my sympathy. I know a couple of people who suffer with it and it looks like it sucks. I deserve to have it and I'm thankful I've not got it.

You can get earplugs which don't mess up the way you hear music. They might help.

And there's no point in standing right next to a speaker, people... Bass soundwaves don't even form properly until around 6' (ft) from the cone.           "One nation under a groove".

I had a ringing tone after a long party. It's not sure it was tinnitus, but you shouldn't wait more than 3 days before starting a treatment. I wanted to make sure it would be OK.
The doc sent me to daily infusions in hospital. This was a mixture of vitamins, and everything that helped to make the blood become thinner and accelerate blood circulation through the body (especially ears). Unfortunately after 5 minutes I felt really dizzy and weird, but in a bad way. And I did feel weird before, believe me .
I ended up in the reanimation centre for the rest of the day with an allergic reaction, nearly killed me. treatment stopped.

Next was a big adventure: the Hyperbar (pressure chamber)!
Tinnitus in its early stages can be cured by accelerating blood circulation inside the body. Oxygen helps a lot too!
The Doc sent me to a two weeks daily sessions in the hyperbar. It looks like a submarine (outside and inside). One session lasts 3 hours. Pressure is increased quite rapidly inside the chamber which makes you swallow a lot, just like landing in an airplane, but much faster. When a certain level is reached you have to wear an oxygen mask for 30mins. This is pure oxygen under pressure and is really tiring. then 10 minutes pause, again 30mins. masks, etc. Then pressure is lowered again to normal. After 2 weeks, my tinnitus was gone. During these 2 weeks I also took loads of medication including vitamins, cortison, etc.

The hyperbar is the same as used when you have a diving accident, for instance when you dive up too rapidly.
It is also used for patients with serious wounds, where body parts are nearly "dead". When pressure is up, blood starts to circulate in these parts again and it heals the wounds.

It worked for me, but you have to react as soon as you think you might have tinnitus. Every day counts!

I now wear earplugs everytime I go to a party and keep away from the speakers. Clean sound on good systems is fine, but worst are distorted systems or speakers which aren't mounted high enough. I also try to take more breaks.

damn, recently i had a "sudden sensorineural hearing loss" on my left ear
i did a audiometry at a ear specialist, with result that i didnt hear frequencies at 6khz anymore.... the thing is since this happen to me i also have a ringing sound in my ear, the doc said the ringing is cause of the "sshl" and probably no tinnitus. now i must take some pills against "blood circulation disturbance" and have to wait for about 3 weeks and make a audiometry again, then i will see if i ever will hear fullscale again.
also, the doc cant tell me if this annoying noise will disappear so i wanted to ask, had anyone of you a similar experience and could tell me some needful things about cure's and remedies... i'm specially searching for alternative (homepathic) remedy

thx

p.s.: damn, protect your ears!!!!

fortunatly i dont have tinnitus, but some friends of mine got it, mostly because of producing music with head-phones.
When you use head-phones for a long time, the tendencie is to put it louder and louder, and after a while damage could occure.
Please be very carefull on using your head-phones.

Good that you brought this to our attention, this is quite a serious thing...
I am SO not dancing close to the speakers anymore!
Oh my precious ears!
