i know one guy that dealing with this problem,he's hearing all the time that annoning noise and he go to sleep with a radio or music that sound at least 1 db from that noise, there is a medical solution for ppl who suffering from tinittus but it's very expensive and kind of new,the results are pretty bad.

Since I posted that thread about hearing damage, I use ear plugs in every party (though I don't wear them all the time). I'm also thinking about getting professional ear plugs.

Hey TiMMY i am also thinking of getting proffesional ones too. Theres a company in the US ( http://www.etymotic.com/ ) that makes custom earplugs that can reduce the sound up to 25 dB!!!
I also use earplugs at parties *ALL* the time.. hehe

gilad:

there are also plugs which block only if a certain frequency ( i.e. 4000) is reached.
...and there are also plugs which block over the hole range more or less linear.
seach for "music-safe" or so, no too expensive, and if u like to get really good/linear ones, u can get some custom-ones.
ask your local music-store respectively the ear-doc.

this really depends on the earplugs that you get... true, the cheap foam ones that you get at the pharmacy will cut out certain frequencies more than others and will make the sound seem muffled.
one the other hand, if you get the professional kind from an audiologist, it will be custom fit for your ears. it will lower the sound level by like 15 or 25 dB (depending on the type that you ask for), but it will not cut out particular frequencies... resulting in a balanced sound, just a bit more quiet.           michael

almost all the djs i know who have played for longer than 8-10 years have tinnitus...i have it as well and i have to say its sometimes driving me mad.

take acid for example and walk in middle of a silent forest :-P

i have some friends who are studying in medical school and they have done some research for me about the subject, and it doesnt really look too good with the possible cure or treatment for it...if you want to view some kind of simple data about tinnitus here is a few bits:

that might not do you ay good if the music is very loud, you only need a very short time of loud noise to damage the hearing permanently.
