Do you have the right?

I see a lot of people complaning about how the artists decide to make their music. Now my question or for that matter lay-up for the debate is.

Does people that do not buy the music have any right to complain?

I am not pointing fingers at anyone here even though I am pretty sure many of you do not buy much of the music you listen to.

The fact is that very little people buy music these days but yet I see a lot of people complaining about the music.

So what's fair? Do you have the right to complain?

This is NOT another mp3 versus buying thread. So please do not start that debate here. I am looking at a point that have not really been debated yet.

sadly true, most ppl download most(if not all) of their music. then the artists don't make enough money, and then we get ppl like astrix who create crappy music to make a living, by being accesible to a larger more (badly)diverse croud of people.
i'm not telling you buy all your music, its difficult, especially when ur 17 years old. but do pay for what u truly appriciate. if everyone act that way, buying even as little as 2 cds a month, i guerantee the scene will improve.

I think you missed the point of my question. I was not asking about what music is crap or why it's crap or how the scene can improve. I asked a simple question:

Do people have the right to complain about how the artists choose to make the music when they do not buy the music?

Again this is not about downloading versus buying.

I think that for every artist releasing an album is sort of a dream to express himself fully... Something very personal, and not up to the ppl to decide how it should be built and what tracks will be in it.

Simple rule is if u dont like it u should look for artists that 'do it' for u. Or u can make one yourself.           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

In my opinion, NO.

caveat: if somebody pays money to hear an artist at a party and doesn't like it, then they have a right to complain (even if they have never bought one of the artist's releases).

True but I dont think they have the right to complain about the music itself. People should know what kind of music the artists play when they buy the ticket to the party/festival. If they dont then they have to take it as an experience. But they do have the right to complain about a bad performed liveact or that some artists just put a CD on etc. etc. But never about how the artists decide to make their music.

Damn right and well put!
But i have to say that here on isratrance everybody is really scared of negative criticism, if there werent any criticism we wouldnt be heading any where with the music.

So let the ppl criticise but the ppl who do it better be sure to back it up.           For the TT beliver: www.techtrance.2tunes.com

So I can interpretate that your answer is that it's ok to critisise the artists music even though you (not you) never buy the music?

I think that everyone has a right to have an oppinion, but no need to complain about the music that is released....
If you don´t like the music an artist is creating, then listen to something else...
There isn´t even one artist in the whole world that can make an album that pleasures everyone on this earth...
That´s why there is so many different types of music, and sub genres in trance....

There is something for everyone out there...

well i wanst really replying to that whole DL thing. i mainly adressed your "complain" issue.

when it comes to who gets to complain, well it's freedom of speach so you cant really ban anyone unless you wanna become a dictator, but i can agree to that ppl get there music illegaly shouldnt complain.           For the TT beliver: www.techtrance.2tunes.com

So what? We all should write only good things here?
kiss ass all the time? I write good thing about the artist. And also bad things. As much as I like to write good; sometimes I write bad. What is wrong with this?
What about contractive criticism? imo its the best criticism.

We don't have the right co complain!?! 4 who the artist make the music? 4 themselves only? we are the target of their music!
If I love something i will say it. If a don't I will say also.
freedom of speech.

I've never reviewed an album I did not bought.

Does it answer your question?

BTW. Which album of yours would you reccomend me to buy first? Strangely enough, my local shop somehow got hold of some psy-trance CDs from Yoyo Records and I'm planning to buy something tomorrow. But beware - if I'll buy it, I might not like it and I won't hesitate to say about it! :-D
