I see your point but I don't agree.
is it any better with all the glorification of drugs within this scene? There are a lot of tracknames and samples that glorify drugs.
Too me it's just names.

No i've never aggred on the gloryfying of drugs either. And I am sure there's plenty here that know what i think about those artists and labels that promote drugs to young people by naming their tracks after drugs and using samples with drug references. But that's a topic that's been debated heavily and not this topic here even though I see your point and agree 100%

it's nice to see hand a taking the concerned "rap music is destroying our children" attitude. the "isra-trance rebel" has a adult and conservative side too
i haven't heard the tracks in question so i can't really say. if it's just about the tracks's names then i agree with the rest here that it's just a (bad) joke, an effort to balance things out. i've heard evil and distorted music in this scene but that had to do something with the artists who've fried their brains with excessive drug abuse and not with satan.

I dont think some of you really got my point. I am not talking about the music itself (except for the "evil" samples) but the track titles who undoubtly seem to be about satanic, demonic issues.

That is why I gave the example of heavy metal. Evil track names, evil lyrics, evil cover art and T-shirts, happy friendly metal fans.

The words shouldn't be taken too seriously. It is just a bit of juvenile fun.

If you'll play a Skazi album in reverse you won't hear satanic messages. But it will sound much better.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

@handa

my take on this subject is as follows..
Psytrance /trance is in tandem to what we can call 'paganism'. The eternal tandav dancin of shiva.. etc.. Trance is generally rooted in the mystical dances of the gods..

So maybe the Dark music comin out nowadays is just tryin to stay in focus with 'paganism'.

I personally dont approve of callin the worship of more ancient religions 'paganism', like hinduism or teh nordic gods. Seems a lil arrogant to differentiate .

And here we have the new Parahalu cd by Parvati Records.......

Can someone from the artists or the label explain us what this picture has to do with trance and our small scene?

I think that the limits were just crossed...           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

It has been the same since a while and in different music styles..

Someone reminded Deep Purple here in the same breath with Black Sabbath. Now lets elaborate on this one since in my opinion here lies the key to Kristian's question.

The Metal or Hard Rock's pioneers Led Zeppelin ( and it's previous formations ) and Deep Purple made their music out of love and enormous talent for music making, and altho many stories were ran about Jimmy Page and his darkish beliefs, the music of Led Zeppelin was by far not Satanic or Devilish - there were darker songs ofcourse and every musicians has moods and as it is nice to make happy music it is also part of the art to make darker music.

Black Sabbath and their followers went into the open door that Led Zep and Deep Purple opened for them with a total agressive foul and brooding music,... never in my life I could say that they belong to the same stream of their predecessors, and never in my life I couldn't connect to the totally agressive and devilish lyrics and appearance on stage.

This ALL came out of MISSISSIPPI DELTA BLUES mind u all since the two bands I reminded before were uprooted in blues and from there drew their inspiration - funny world no?

In Trance it wend exactly the same direction in my opinion with a little distinction - Black Sabbath is one hell of a band in which every member is exceptionally good in what he does. On the other hand, the invasion of Trance that happened some 7 years ago with the Metal Headz, was more because they were not good enough < IMHO > to succeed in their own scene, not to speak about nasty prices to hire a studio for rehearsals.. and it was much more demanding to actually play killa riffs on the guitar and innovate - etc.. and replaced that with brutal beats made on a computer - much easier and many times the impact is even bigger since there is a lot of power in Electronic music and no musician can hold very very long with 150bpm speed.

If I personally like it? nope... But I live with it

i think the psytrance scene is not the only scene facing the problem of satanism, look at the technoscene: http://www.stigmata-records.de/start.html (found this in the links page of chris liebing).

in fact psytrance originates from ppl mixing small parts of ebm together. many of you will know groups like front 242, who brought out songs like welcome to paradise and god is god, showing no respect at all for christianity.

i think the goa scene has always been facing this satanic influence, but it is only now ppl really openly call their tracks after satan, or use clearly sataninspired messages. before this ,the tracks and groups used 'spiritist'(look at spirit zone,....) 'sjamanist', .... influences, wich are for me just the same thing : making contact with spirits while using dope, dancing while having your heart wide open for demons(you may call them spirits ).

this scene is doing what ancient religions are doing for ages now: dancing for the gods, making mindcontact with spirits, ...

as i already said in other threads i left this scene a few years ago because i started understanding what is the point of these dark parties. i have been on parties where tortures, all kinds of ugly and warimages where shown on a wide videoscreen, while almost everyone was tripping on lsd or shroomz. from this point on i really changed my mind about this: i know this had nothing to do anymore with having a good time, or balancing good and bad in your soul our other vague ideas. i knew (and still know) for sure that this is just plain satanism.

having a religious background( was raised in a christian family) i had had a good knowledge of symbols and names used in the scene, look at names like tarsis, azrael, hedonah,... many of them just originate in places or persons directly linked to satan or evil places,....

i also partied in places where pentagrams and many other 'fluo arts' had been hung against the wall. and when i once had a bad trip i saw many ppl's heads change into skulls and other creepy images.

still i wanted to go back to these places every week...

if this scene is not about satanworshipping, what do all these names, symbols,... do here then?

i'm not wanting to offend anyone here with my post btw, just want you guys to think about it.

my decision was (and still is) clear: i stepped out of the scene, and nowadays i go to church on sunday instead of going out on saturday. the only thing that still links me to this scene is the music(wich i still love). what i detest is the message of the music, wich according to me is the oposite of what i believe now(i'm born again christian now).

to finish my post: i respect all opinions here, and hope you guys have the respect not to flame me for saying what i really think.

peace

Exactly! When you look at what has been regarded as Satanic historically Satanism sounds pretty cool, and a lot like what trancers would be into.
You see what has to be understood is that Satan is not something that normal people would worship and do rituals to, because to believe in Satan is in a way to be a Christian, and if you beleived in Chrisitianity then why would you be a Satanist?
For me, I only call myself a Satanist when I am feeling to lazy to explain my beliefs in detail so Im just like "Yeah sure im a satanist" because things than are supposedly Satanic are the kinds of things Im into with my spirituality.

Dancing around a fire deep in the forest at night?
Satanic! Ever see any old Church descriptions of "Witches Sabbath"
Drum based music?
Satanic! Ever hear any Church music with a drum?
Injestion of hallucinogens?
Definately satanic in the eyes of the Church... they used to say that the Aztecs were using mushooms to commune with the Devil.

Do all these things that are supposedly Satanic are things that I actually have very positive feelings about. So in a way it just seems easier to gleefully accept the title of Satanist rather than try to fight it. If worshipping the earth is Satanism, then I am proud to call myself a Satanist.

The dark imagary is cool because darkness is titillating and fun. Ardkore 4ever baby!
