Personally, i prefer #1.
It's a pleasure to feel the DJ "living" a lot the music he's playing and connecting also with a vibrating Crowd

BTW a few days ago i saw Infected Mushroom Live Act & DJ Set and i was really impressed with Duvdev perfomance           - BEing mySELF

hmm, isn't Duvdev the bald guy? It was him who played most of the dj set (even though they did a ping pong) and it was him who was moving a lot, while Erez just kept concentrated in the keyboard - but I must agree, they're both amazing in their own way.

and I really like to see the dj jumping with the crowd and really getting into the music - and in that, I never saw anything like Juan Verdera, the guy seemed possessed, it was a great show           When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality

I personally like when DJ's and act's get into thier sets - in whatever way that is. I like to see acts totally getting into it and dancing around - it gets me pumped.

Personally - i often find myself going nuts when I play a set without even realizing it - at home and wherever i may play. If the music is pumping - it takes complete control over me so I can't be blamed for what my body may do when under the spell of banging tunes

When the dj dance and jump around the stage makes you feel more into the music (at least me)

If u wanna see a really mad live u have to see Sharigrama guys(a live of very good mexican full on). That guys are totally insanes!!!!!

Coming to a party is like coming to a rock concert. I wanna see performance in addition to the music.

I don't agree with any of the 3 options!

I think it depends on few things

if you will dance like animal right away while the crowd is still cold, the crowd will start looking at you, you kill the AURA of the party!

it depends very much on the crowd and the SPECIFIC AURA WHILE YOU PLAYING.

you always have to move a bit...move a bit you head, ass or something with the beat till the crowd getting high(!), when you see the crowd dance like animals you can flow with the "animals" as wish...

The Bottom line: It is fucking wrong to think how should I behave as Dj! you just need to feel and flow with the moments!           " You were born original... Don't die a copy.. "

It is the same as those people who telling a jock and over reacting with their laugh, they don't let other people laugh before... (I hate those people...)

even if the jock is great, you feel like the one who told you the jock, tell it to himself and he just want too much attention...

I hate those over reacting...
the same in music parties when dj don't know when to start move with the crowd...

it is about let the people do the first step... let them feel they are the dancers and you are the musician, and after they dance it is okay to go with them...

ps I am with #1 but only if it is the right time.

i think its the coolest when the dj isn't overly excited about bein there but just enough so you can tell they are havin a good time. also when the dj dances in a way that he is able to make the moves at precisely the right time because he knows whats comin up. thats one thing that always bothers me a bit, when i think i know whats comin and then get it wrong. my answer: a mixture of 1, 2, and 3           all the evidence to the contrary is not entirely disuasive
