let me answer some questions which were raised here.

We tried to make the distribution in Israel from 8/2002 until 3 months ago, and I can shed a light for you on the subject.

First of all regarding the big chains like tower records and Zlil. They are in a very big financial crisis for the last 2 years thus causing them to pay the distributor after 6 months minimum.
I would leave with that if the quantities were sufficient, but what they do is, when the payment time is reaching they simply return 60-70% of the stock they took so that they will not need to pay too much, thus causing the distribution to get stuck with an old stock which no one wants to buy, and that they cannot return to the source distribution because its too old.
This answers your question about the availability, as for the Israeli market, if in older days you would be able to sell minimum 400 copies of each title, nowadays you struggle to reach more than 50 copies in what used to be the empire of world trance, and that is the main reason why we stopped distributing in Israel- ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT!

And Im really not getting into the labels vs distributors vs shops topic here because this is not the thread for it.

As for bne for example they stopped distributing because its not worth it anymore so they let mci do this job for them.

Nowadays doof records are trying their best to distribute in Israel and I wish them best of luck but I will not be surprised if they will give it up sooner than expected.

To sum things up the only shop which is working and oputting effort in bringing imported cds to israel is krembo shop in Tel Aviv, without them the market is really dead cause they are 70% of the Israeli market at the moment
