im now studing classical percussion in athens
and yesterday i found my self in a difficult situation.when i was asked by my teachers in an interview jst bfore my exams are my favourite composers my reply was son kite, logic bomb, sphongle etc..they were really surprised by my answer,of course they ddnt no who are all these guys wit da strange
names and asked again wot kinda music they
compose and u no my reply...
afta that they were really looking funny at me and in sure my marks wont represent
my performance...
this is jst another reason that makes me think wot da fuck is wrong with ppl that they
jst cant accept a culture such as ours??i mean we sudnt give a fuck about it but do u think its affecting other pll s behaviour against us and wot is so wrong of our music?
trance is something that makes life beta,a lot beta in many ways.
the thing that pisses me of is non trance ppl think they no the meaning of life while trance ppl can do nothing right..i think that they are too fucking jealous...
thanks

maybee they would know if u said skazi..

I guess its 2 different worlds but still not.
Perhaps they expected u to say some classical stuff. The Electronic music might be new for some people..

or they might have even more respect for you, since now they know you're exploring different genres that lie outside of the school requirements. you should've said it's 'experimental avangard music'.

be choosy..

its all in personal taste....
don't worry be groovy .

this is evolution taking place and v all are a part of a major psychedelic revolution ...the more v think ppl dont know abt this genre ,,,trust me slowly and steadily there is a lots goin on ...many ppl know what psytrance is as compared to 5-6 years back.

v ourselves got to make the community stronger (in numbers)
larger the community and more and more ppl will know abt it

i think you would have gotten more accepting looks if say something like squarepusher. Show them how the classical world has slowly but steadily influenced modern trends... jazz-like percussion for example. Man even some autchre would have left them flabbergasted. Non listeners of electronic music need to be guided by the hand just like everyone else...

As personal recomendation check out what the japanese are doing percussion wise, people like Waki, Leslie, Shin Takai, or SNFKN for instance. im specifically reffering to the works of a new chill/downtempo label, Object Records. Well worth a look

well, i actually say the same thing generally when people ask me like that, but in second line, i mention bach and wagner, so they understand i´m no a fool...

Its all about credibility what makes a genre respactable, but what makes credibility?

In classical music, there are many intelligent composers, who use a lot of logical brainwork to create complex musical works, longer and much harder to make, than any psytrance or whatsoever, so people think this is good music, because it´s hard to make - this is a very conservative view to the quality of something

But with my opinion about favorite Composers I add my tribute to make intelligent people look towards electronical music, because most people think of it the way i think about techno...those people must understand, that not only the complexity of musical work makes it good, but also the effect which produces it on our mind - this arguing is sometimes hard to believe to this people, because its just as saying, drugs are cool, because they make such a nice fx on the mind, and this is indeed what our music is able to do..

so

a long way to go to clarify this

bye

yes you did, if this is truelly the music you like
dont mind them really, if they cant deal with the fact that you listen to the music you listen to thats their problem. Alot of people out there aren't accepting, fuck em' ;-)
altho, i think they ment "classical" composers, but if you dont like any of them i dont see a point in telling it to them, or studying classical music or whatever for that matter, but thats just me ;-)
