self-referential sample (i.e. speaking the name of the act in a track)

Yeah, but others might disagree. I think he ruins a lot of decent tracks with bad samples.

Another one - "kiss the mooootttherrrfuuuccking rainbow!" No thanks.

We should award some kind of trophy to the artist who first makes use of a sample from Snakes on a Plane.

Oh my god, snakes on a plane! What are we going to do? There ain't nothing we can do... not when there's snakes on a fucking plane !

Ahem sorry I actually really like Neelix's use of samples , it's the kind of stuff that would trip me out at a party.           Row row row your boats gently down the stream; merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream.

Just to add a bit of balance...

Pitch Black - Ape To Angel

That album had a lot of samples... and repetitive ones too - but i liked most of it.

In fact it was one of my favourite prog albums of last year.

I suppose when it comes to samples, good and bad can be very subjective.

That said, i still honestly think that the bad use of samples spoils a lot of good music.

Peace and stuff!

Vibrasphere - Sudden Comfort

Gonna be alright...

... but would have been a damn sight more alright without that bleedin' sample.

Some tracks are just ruined by overuse of samples. One example I might add, is the Sonify track on Tribal Vision's "Street Art". But hey, that's just my opinion.

Heh, just noticed this thread now!

Anyhow, by big amount of requests, I might work on re-edit for that track some time in the future!

some of the samples...totally piss me off!

the track seems to be going on nice everything is good all of a sudden we hear a vocal..which keeps on repeating and gettin more and more annoying as it proceeds...i hate that in a track...

some artists are smart enough to use samples based on interesting themes which somewhat relate to the atmosphere of the track which i find is not a problem at all...infact its really good but some really are off the hook...

i suggest giving a listen to talamasca - roswell mania on the french connection...that sample is fukkin brilliant but somehow feel its too long..but the vocals make great amount of sense regarding the topic and aptly so the track has the required atmosphere and well the track name is derived from the atmospehre..now thats somewhat acceptable and till certain extents intellegent
