I always wonder what motivates a person to repeat this arbitrary statement everywhere dark psy is mentioned. (Perhaps these people are taking their taste in music as being objectively founded?)
The quality of the tracks are mostly amateurish, and the music may not be the most refined at times, but there's good, innovative and psychedelic music to be found in that genre if you shift through the muck for a bit.
I don't listen to much in that genre, and not very often, but sometimes only a good listening session of sense overloading dark psy does the trick for me.

Some people like to impose their values and tastes on others.
I am no exception to that rule either - Skazi, Infected Mushroom, Dali, Hypersonic - Lots of that stuff - Its just wrong, for me, its just the truth.
Its not about "Dark Psy", "Full On" or whatever - Its just the way some people are.
I will try to minimize my bitching to relevant or free topics. If people want to talk about crappy music in a positive manner, or just promote it, they should be able to do it without my bitching.
A funny video clip however, an official bitching topic or whatever is open to my wrath and will be exposed to it.

Most if not all of early goa sounded amateurish, does that mean it cannot be appreciated?
What about lo-fi garage production bands, all to be thrown in the burning pile?

Most of what i've heard doesn't even qualify as music sorry. I always hear those "Hey there's good stuff also" comments but after 2 years that i am aquainted with this genre the only audible artist for me is Ocelot. The rest are just no good.

What you call as early goa was produced by people who most of them had a musical education,very expensive equipment at the time (ofcourse today this equipment sounds like a joke)and most of all the love of what they were doing because back then there was no money to be made out of trance,no fame to gain,no internet to advertise,no nothing.
Today everyone with a pc and no music education at all calls himself a producer and tries desperately to release an album and see his name on various compilations so he can get bookings,money,fame and girlfriends.
Love for the music has been replaced by love for ourselves.Thats the difference mate.

So ppl like this music. Let them enjoy it, I do not like DarkPsy Trance but, this music doesn't give in any way to Trance scene bad reputation. Skazi, void and Hypersonic are the worst ambassadors of trance, its like sending to another planet someone like sadam Husian to represent the human specie. Most of the ppl think that trance is just like the chemical crew from mafia horrible comp, Its music, which imho, is just 'improved' version of 'NIzhonot'. -=The Meaning Of Life Is To Give Life A Meaning= |

I don't see how this relates to dark psy in particular.
I do recognize that I find the quality of the releases in some genres as minimal, prog(to some extent) or tech-trance to be clearly higher on average than those of the dark psy genre. But this hardly justifies disqualifying a whole style of music as crap; what is the use of making sweeping generalizations ?

Actually you are right since this was a very general comment by my side.
So we go back to my original post where i said to you that you answered the original question on your own when you admitted that the production quality is between very low levels,the repetition is very high and there is a lack of music ideas.

Make a classical meloman listen to your favourite kind of trance, he'll probably say that the the repetition is very high and there is a lack of musical ideas. Now the question is, is this true and you've been liking crap all along or does that person not get the trance approach to music?
Darkpsy has a different approach to trance than the lighter stuff, which translates in monotonous basslines, discordant and chaotic melodies and FX, and a grittier sound. Many take advantage of this to release dull dancefloor killarghs, but in essence the style offers something unique.
