Is there more out there in the style of these bands ?? I like all the older Dark Soho stuff as well X-Dream/The Delta. However it seems most newer "dark psy" stuff sounds pretty different in my ears (and not as good)....I also checked already some releases from ectoplazm, but found only a few tracks I like...
Btw: Typed in "dark psy" at youtube, came up with example of style that I DONT LIKE (too fast, too minimalistic/simple, not really dark) and since when do they use these weak basslines in trance (mh).
The term Dark psy is not really applicable to the style you search anymore. It has taken on another meaning and characterization of a totally different genre of psy trance. All Though its roots are connected to dark soho and Xenomorph. (This is my interpretation I could be wrong)

Seems so my friend... so I cannot tell people anymore that i like dark psytrance or dark goa, cause it sounds now totally different from the style I actually like lol.
Reminds me to the fact thats the same for industrial, what most ppl. know today as indus isnt indus at all and mostly sucks...
At least deathmetal is still deathmetal (mostly).
BTW: Any idea what style or genre this track would be as u seem to be knowleadgeable in style things (it was made together with a friend 12 or so years ago, production should be pretty weak), thanks:
Interesting Thanks for sharing.
The first thing that came to mind from hearing this is Tim Shuldt. And I would label this a Darker style of basic Nighttime psytrance if it was the year 2000 now.
Probably a precursor to the Dark Soho style such as Tim Shuldt was. He went more and more into the heavy guitars and industrial feel, .
Well Well, there is people out there looking for this...
i recommend you to check psychedelic techno page at facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Psychedelic.Techno.Official.Source), we are the people who is still trying to keep this kind of techno alive (X-Dream, Delta, Midimiliz)...yep, used to be tech trance but c'mon guys that term is very dead since tiesto also created music that was called "tech Trance" and i think the faster lane of this style is not really popular anymore, the fastest stuff i hear are at 135/138...

Ah thanks mate. I really experimented with a lot of styles so am confused myself which "label" I should put to my music, I simply went with dark electronic however.
You can grab this track as download (and another old Split Effect one, which should be better except mixing/mastering suxx compared to today) here:

i think you may have better luck looking for techno artists .. you wont get the high bpm but you will find the dark industrial vibe
Yeah, I don't think there's much psy being made nowadays with that kind of feel. Psychedelic techno/tech-trance/whatever you want to call it is the closest thing to it. But if that doesn't really hit the spot, I'm not sure what else will. The only other thing I can think of is something like Deviant Species. It's like twilight full-on, minus all the twilight full-on cliches. Pretty minimal and atmospheric, has a dark feel to it, stays below 142 bpm, and nice overall production. The man behind this project, Santos, also used to play drums for industrial band Pig.
