It's kind of sad to see the masters X-dream only playing "retro" sets at the festivals. As much as I love the music, its kind of awkward, no? Something new would be awesome.
I like retro sets. An X-Dream retro set would still be the best music I will listen to a festival. So its not ackward for me. X-Dream, MWNN..etc, is mostly what I listen at home to look for inspiration to write music, anyway. + its good for the new generations to listen to that stuff as well. So amongst a line up of new music, a few retro sets are good, imo.

Is there more out there in the style of these bands ?? I like all the older Dark Soho stuff as well X-Dream/The Delta. However it seems most newer "dark psy" stuff sounds pretty different in my ears (and not as good)....I also checked already some releases from ectoplazm, but found only a few tracks I like...
Also have a Xenomorph CD which holds some nice stuff, but isnt as good as above acts imo.
that was the true dark trance...
it was trance based, with thematic dark textures that had influence from harder side of techno, very cybernetic, very interesting
unlike current "dark" that is no more than a ghotic hardcore disturbed vision of what trance is as an electronic music.
personaly i allways enjoyed Delta, X-dream and overal night music of that period...
comparing that with current is just a joke...
ok so here are 2 fat ass albums from the "new school, the new generation, the next blood"... the legacy continues with EXCIZEN AND OPSY!!!
yep, Opsy has been constantly updating his sound till the fatness of today and not long ago his debut album came out on soundmute Recordings...
check it on Youtube :
Excizen aka Miroslav Bako who is also the man in charge of the project ManMachine is behind this psytechno project... he also released an album in soundmute!!!

Yes of course, I am not talking about retro sets in general, I am talking about X-dream. It would be great if they could make and play some new tracks and not exclusively retro stuff. That would be even more inspirational for the new generation of listeners. https://soundcloud.com/lostandfound

only germans know how to pull out sound like this !
i can send you kick similar ,as phat like this.. all analog but need time to make them..
i like their kicks too..it probably come from one of their synths..dunno what ..maybe pro one, maybe roland sh5.. dunno .. maybe waldorf? in some more recent tunes they still use similar one
would be great if you can upload or send a phat kick like this!
The special mesmerizing punch in the attack is what I really like about this kick.

Mh, why not take a sample and edit to your liking ? This particular kick (the delta) seems also overdriven and/or distorted. I like the undistorted kick of x-dream a bit more tbh. But The Delta is really cool no doubt.
Well i obvisously like this kinda "kick" however I again have no idea if this track could fit the style discussed in this thread:
There is nothing like The Delta, at least not in the trance scene. Been searching too but I guess the time played a big part since a lot of that sound has slowed down now and moved into the techno territory. If there is a worthy successor to the sound though it would be Opsy, not just sound design but brilliant songwriting too.
