I've explained four times why is that! Simply all psytrance scene is amatuer musicians and labels scene. The ones who can produce real music, are not part of this scene anymore or/and on different level of production.

What you can do about?:

a.
Move on, since you can't change a thing. Give a try to other styles!

b.
Try to find good music within the scene, which is totaly possible to get

c.
Start this useless and endless posts chain!

Now the question for you Don Kite, do you really think something will change if you will join those who ask this dumb question all the time? Fucking sake there are dozens of gret music out there, you just miss it. DO small research in which i can help you and you won't find any mainstream artists!

i'm sure there are psytrance artists who are good but i'm into other music these days, so my advices are!

Progressive House (Benz and MD, Casa Flava, Digital Witchcraft, Madoka and Inkfish)

Dance/House (Deep Dish, Infusion, Basement Jaxx, Timo Maas)

These artists never do same sounding track as whole progressive house scene, i never met with exactly same tracks as i hear in psytrance.

Hmm with Dimitry's post we have a good example that this thread engages once again (and as always) personal taste !

Of course it is frustrating to see an artists you don't like being flattered by thousands of people while he's shaking his hips with the elegance of a mammoth behind the decks..

but hey, what can you do.. Just wait for the next artist you like, and go to the alternative floor for a while or the chill-out.. you might be suprised !

here's a true story..

i remember back only 4-5 years ago, everybody in my <not very big> town suddenly became a DJ. There were lines to listen to records at the record store, there'd be like 10 DJs trying to get a slot to play at a small house party.. DJ collectives sprung up like mushrooms - every freakin bar had DJ nights where the groupies would come hang out..

now, 5 years later, and guess what? this town has only maybe 20 DJs left altogether. and these are actually GOOD. the rest? they quit because they never made money, got discouraged because they never got gigs or girls or even got to play out because it takes dedication and talent in an overflooded market.

i predict the same thing will happen with the psytrance scene. which will be good and bad because along with the crap, some quirky very original musicians will probably quit as well.

The "problem" is the people who buys that music, labels won't release something that won't sell. As simple as that...

P.S.
If you ask me, 99% of today's releases are crap (IMHO).           -=Lead System Designer=-

Can't bash evolution!
Go with it - and if you find that all you do all day is complain then start listening to new stuff... far out - there is sooo much amzing music in the world ( remember people, there is a WHOLE WIDE WORLD out there... just in case u forgot)
Let the crappy music continue... everyone has lessons to learn, i think maybe its connected?

I think it is not personal taste, Timo Maas's production and sound is way better than any psytrance producer!
Ok Talpa is good production and music, musically wise it sound like amateur crap when Timo Maas not, i don't like them both so i speak objective.

very nice story man, i would go a bit more drastically and say: only a few labels and artists with different styles will seperate the market into their niches. all the ones who try to copy the style of another one will be eaten sooner or later. a label which decides today to follow mainstream without creating an own style/niche is sentenced to die soon or will be stay alive as one of the few. this is the reason why many labels die today imo, and this labels force the young artists to sound like X or Y. the labels dont push artists to be creative, because a lot of them dont have a clear red line or a character, too. so from what should innovation come? from what?

Innovation, and it's not the first time I express it, should be exacted by the audience..

Why should any artist believe in what he can read about him (like he's making crap) when the week-end before hundreds of people were throwing up their hands during his laptop-push-play-button live-act ?

Personal opinions, it's always about personal opinions.
Yes, 2005 is much weaker than the brilliant 2004 (i am still buying albums from that year and the year before).
Yes, the full-on epidemic must end. Yes, the dark full-on is not so dark and it's mostly (not all of it, but a huge part of the released music nowadays is) fucking random noise. And yes, some of the progressive has nothing to do with Psy or with Goa (not that it's necessarily bad or equals to bad music).
Still it is all a matter of MINE F#%^ng PERSONAL OPINION.

So if you don't like what you hear and don't like what is played in the parties you have 5 options.

A. Stop whining.
B. Stop listening to it and go play Leonard Cohen or whatever.
C. Make your own killargh music, and show the scene what it lacks.
D. Open your own label and join the flood.
E. Organise your own parties.

In fact, there are people that doing it and enjoying the novelty, and never forget that it's only one.
My 30+ year old work colleague recieves with applause everything i bring to him, because till month ago he thought that psy-trance is Skazi.
My 2 shekels.

Some of these labels released nice music long ago, thou i don't know if they still release it(not intrested in such music). The only fact i know they moved to other style because it sells bit more and more ppl like it. If you don't fall into that category then time to move on.
