jst gt one article abt comercial success of psy trance muzic...nd its very intrsting figure i came across...read this excerpt frm tht article

"sales of psychedelic trance have been falling. The decline was : -2,8% in 2001, and -8,8% in 2002. A typical album usually sells around 2,000 copies, and selling more than 5,000 copies would be considered a success. There are only a handful of artists who sold more than 20,000 copies, including Hallucinogen, G.M.S., Infected Mushroom, Chakra, Transwave, Astrix, and Astral Projection. Hallucinogen's Twisted has had the most commercial success to date, selling around 85,000 copies."

85,000 copies.....thts a gud figure..so how many goa gil sellin....
i think a long way to go...           Studies indicate that listening to music is good for digestion.

The source is an old article, can't remember where it was originally published, but now these links are online:

I'm sorry to disappoint you all, but accordly to my own statistics most albums are selling less than 600 copies. Artists and labels could give more feedback on this, please.

Yeah and what is the big problem ? I think its good that the big
labels are not so big anymore, and the smaller more experimental
labels are popping up everywhere...

U for sure wish all labels welcome, but it is not the scene to make
extreme amounts of $$$ in

Usually, when a style gets too popular, people complain. Now it seems some are unhappy that psy is not selling well....huh?

Whenever music styles get to popular, the style changes. Rarely does it change for the better.

I like the fact that 98% of artists are selling under 10,000 copies as it keeps money from becoming a main motivating factor.

yes, because the market is supersaturated it doesn't sell well. and that's a sign of commercialisation too....everyone wants a piece of the cake and opens up a new label in order to get it. result: too much labels releasing the same music. high sales figures don't equal commercial motivation behind the music....at least in my book.

where do u live ppl ???
you R missing the point ,
nobody is selling cd's comon , wake up , we r almost at 2008 ..
cd's r just a tool of producers to get aknoledge of thier labor work , and 4 some other sentimntal bulshit ..
producers and especialy trance prod. is focused on how far is the new release goin to , and if there is a market there , go and make showes 4 them , and the money is coming from making a gig rather than making a cd .
unless u r infected or tiesto..
peace .

thts 100% true bt if artist r selling jst 100s of copies hw they r makin money (don cry over comercialism n all)if no one makin money then i m sure soon this genre of music'll disapear frm this earth or else find an alternate to make money fr artist n all may b most of th music get trasfered through internet thn v can assign entire digital/non interactive rights to music promoters (publisher or subpublisher) or find ne other way...can ne 1 figure it out hw mch money these artist/djs make frm their live shows
